Weights of Ford F15A

Am hoping to register my truck soon but I need the curb/ramp weight empty and the the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM). I have a maintenance manual but it only lists weights and tyre pressure loadings on the individual diffs/Tyres.

Can you help
Tim

Weights

Manual says for a F15A Front axle distribution of load is 4065lbs and Rear axle is 5085lbs, total is 9150lbs or 4150kg. I'd say that would be a fair GVM. Unladen mass is easy - take it to your local weighbridge for a weight ticket! It might pay to keep the weight down as rego charges are based on mass, so leave at home things like your toolkit, spare tyre and only half fill one tank:rolleyes:

And make sure you blow up the tyres to at least 40 PSI . This will lighten the truck markedly .

I passed physics with straight A 's , so I know what I am talking about .

No, no, no, Mike!

He should blow the tyres up with Mr Gaspo Helium to 40 psi to reduce the weight. This will also work on loose drift sand where flotation tyres aren't fitted.

What about

Fitting 20" wheels would allow you to use 12.00-20 tyres which according to Professor Kelly's theory would work even better and the 20 ply rating would surely allow for 70 psi for even more lightness, perhaps even floatation!
Gun tractors must therefore be lighter than a 15CWT due to the larger volume of air inside the body.

...or at least due to the volume of hot air inside their owners... :D

Which would make Kieth and Tony the lightest MLU'ers around!
