Submarine for sale
 

The OBERON class Submarine, ex HMAS OTAMA, is for sale for 4.9 million $ Aust. It's been on EBAY .. no bidders .

7 years ago.. a community group at Hastings here,
purchased it for 50k ( a govt. grant apparently ) .. straight from the navy..in pristine running condition ...they intended to make a museum on the foreshore , tourist mecca ... Well, they went ahead and paid over 300 K dollars to get it towed from West. Aust., huge insurance costs involved too . But, they didn't have permission from the relevant state authorities to build a museum on the foreshore ( green groups and the dept. of sustainability canned it )... so, its been rusting for the past 6 years , moored off Hastings , deteriorating badly .. Now, the group who bought it, are trying to sell it, for 4.9 million ! So , what do they do with all of the profit money..if they sell it .. ethics come in to it somewhere .
