Hi all, Just taken delivery of a carrier I bought from midwest, pretty complete but a little rusty. It's still got the original fire extinguisher holder and engine shields, found a grab handle in the back, original gunner tool box, havent opened it jet. Original seats but woodwork is long gone. hope to preserve and restore in the near future. It's got the original swing down armour piece with locking handle. If anyone needs any reference shots from an uncut carrier let me know, or if anyone has any information on 3" mortar storage brackets please contact me, or if anyone has information on the carriers history that would be great too.

Well done,!! it's nice to see another carrier in the UK.

Where abouts are you located?

When do you expect to have her up and running?

Barry

Hi, Richard to get it down the drive way I will just shackle it up and tow it with me 4x4, it rolls freely with the drivers drive shaft removed. You are welcome to come any time to take some pics and measure it up. I have looked at alot of carriers mostly canadian ones with the armour cut off in the uk, which have been restored with british armour put on. It seems most running carriers in the uk I have come across are canadian. was this to do with the lend lease ones being kept and the british ones being scrapped?. The armour on this is 100% original so is a good reference to measure up.

Barry, I am located in Lowestoft Suffolk the most easterly point in England. I plan to start work on this one straight away as the tank hunter hasent any corrosion so can wait whilst I stop the decay on this one by getting it stripped and blasted asap. Hope to get it ready for 2010. If you have any contacts in the uk barry who can assist let me know.

Was it easy to get past UK customes? If you don't mind telling us what it cost and how easy was it to ship over?

I have attached a picture of my carrier on Horseguards Parade in London last June. We were taking the salute from Prince Charles.

If you need help give me a call 07973624185

Kevin. cheapest quote i have so far is £1512 from Ontario to Liverpool, do you pay VAT on the purchase price or is it purchase price and freight ?

just need a cheap truck to bring it up the road from Liverpool (3 hour drive)

PS i wish Martyn would post up his build thread on here i was gobsmacked !! scratch building the whole carrier from nothing but a roll of tracks and a couple of wheels !

cheers

Richard

Snow problem!!

It would be good to see how Martyns getting on.
I saw him from a distance at Stoneleigh over the weekend, but never got to speak. Saw Nigel selling his books (great guy)

5 inchs of snow today in Watford, Nth London and everything stopped. No trains, no buses.
Thinking about getting the carrier out to help the local emergency services.

Or just sit on the internet.

yeah from reading up they were seriously poor on the snow (roads) in any case, some carriers had the modded tracks with the big teeth every so many links........

"spudded" tracks

Well Done Richard, Finally gone and bought it. you can start posting some threads now

Well done Richard !!!!, I am so glad you got your carrier, I thought maybe :drunk:you would never go for it. :drunk: If you can get someone to load it for you the other end, :drunk:thats the hardest part. Expect to pay fees this end on unloading, It cost me about 2k to get a complete carrier to Southhamton in its own 20ft container, expect to pay another £600 to get it through customs to a unloading facility were you can collect it from. Both carriers I brought in were free rolling. If yours is stuck you have a problem. :cheers:might be worth taking the tracks  off and slinging them in the carrier hull. If you have a shipping agent handling it they may pay the VAT for you on the carrier and shipping. They may ask you to get a 'Pseudo Turn' number for the Customs entry, takes a couple of days to process, but you will need it before she will clear customs.
Ask for your worry on tracks, what ever you get you get, dont worry to much as you can mix in a few good links to keep it straight. I cant see a problem in getting bigger pins made up and the holes reamed out. Your not going to war in it and if the track breaks, just renew the link. you just want :drunk:them to sit straight when viewed from the :drunk:front :drunk:and :drunk:rear. :drunk: sorry just celabrating your purchase .

hahaha cheers Kevin.
