Of course, if you were just referring to that ingenious Canadian creation involving a suitably-modified Universal Carrier.... er.... then actually I suppose the same could be said.... :D |
HI
I can't find any data plate on the ford i know that the truck have a round hatch so where could i find a date for the truck :giveup |
Hi,
No one could help me to date my F15a :giveup it have Ford Canada under the light :giveup |
Ford serial number
There should be a serial number stamped on the frame rail around the left front spring shackle. I'd guess around late 43.
Kirk Armitage |
c60l
hello eric
myself and the previous owner of the c60l had a discussion some time ago. that truck was purchased in saint john. it likely served at either barrack green, coastal defence, or at camp utopia during the war. mike |
I asked about he Ford script on an old thread and here's Keith Webb's response.
"All the features fit and the 'FORD' script makes it a 1943 model. The 1944/5 models had 'FORD CANADA' " The round roof hatch started in 1944 also. I have several Cab 13 F15As and none of them have serial numbers stamped in the frame. My F15A Cab 11 and Cab 12 all have serial numbers where Kirk mentions and these are the engine serial numbers. The engine number is also stamped into the top slope of the clutch housing on the front of the transmission. You have to bear in mind that it might not be the original tranny though. |
Have been PM-ing on this subject
Here's an example of a very late production F60L at Camp Borden which you Canucks can examine in detail yourselves:
This is the sign of a very late production Ford. http://oldcmp.net/Images/ford/mach1/remov.jpg Link |

Hi,
Anyone have order tips for differente years :teach: |
Back to the registration tag...
5 Attachment(s)
Hi Eric
There are some particular information on that registration tag you posted. The yellow tag you showed is showing a contract order number ## PE-197-12 which according to Guru David Hayward was a late war Australian contract. I predict that you have a C60 with C15a small axles and either 16 inch or possibly 20 inch wheels...... I need you to check out something for me...... whenever the snow melts down to less than 2 feet..... check the top of the front axle..... driver's side where the steering arm connects to the the axle.... how many bolts are there....... 4 bolts or 6 bolts...... 4 bolts will indicate the smaller C15 axle... Also.... what kind of instruments do you have... the round individual military gauges or the square civilian truck type....... For some unexplained reasons some C60 were built with small axles and intended for 16 inch rims....... I have found at least half a dozen in Angus' yard in Sault St Marie....some in Belleville..... I have one.... some in a scrtap yard in western Ontario. They have a mixture of round guages and square 1940 style guages...... all have small C15a axles....... obviously they where made too late and never shipped to Australia....... and all made in Sept 1944. I have record of.....Sept. 22 44 serial number ending in 3421 Sept. 18 44 Eric's 3231 Sept. 14 44 3101 I have attached a few pics... Comments from any one on this particular strange built....?
