Closet parts in Canada ..............

well Ive posted several parts needed for my CMP, Im surprised at the lack of reply posts to my requests :bang: , surely these parts are kickin around here in Caanda, is eveyone asleep on this forum ?? :D

Common guys, you cant take it with you .......... its not worth nothing in scrap value right now ........... and you already have enough projects right ?

So why not chime up and help ?

Yes all this stuff is hard to find, BUT .......... surely we can come out of the closet to help others instead of having it sit and rust in the field ?? :nono:

hope to hear from others ...........

Hi Terry,

It is great to see you bought a CMP truck - a Ford to boot! - and are very enthusiastic about getting it back on the road. You are lucky to have a truck to start with that is more complete than most CMP collectors start off with. Although parts supply for CMP trucks can be classified as "satisfactory", depending on the parts you are looking for, it is not anywhere similar to the parts availability of many other Historic Military Vehicles, notably US types.

But it will take more than just a few quick postings on this forum to complete your truck. Yes, the parts are out there, but this is not your FLAPS around the corner. Take your time, get to know your truck (study the maintenance and parts manuals, read up on the hundreds of years of experience posted here), build your network of CMP friends (this is the best place next to real world contacts), join a HMV club and I assure you you will come across the parts you need.

I don´t intend to sound harsh, but maybe I do because I´m a Direct Dutch Guy. In that case I apologise. All I´m trying to do is to make you feel at home in The Great Worldwide CMP community.

Hope this helps,
Hanno

Chill. Relax, and it will come to you... This is exactly what we are doing here in Corowa - there are SO many CMPs here it's like paradise.

Parts n' stuff ya gotta make

When it comes down to availability sometimes you just have to "bite the bullet" and make the item until an original comes along. In the restoration process I found out early that it is not the destination but the journey itself.
I must admit that while I can now (not very well) weld, bang metal, cut, burn n bleed and have liberally increased (or decreased) my vocabulary, I am by no means an expert. One of the pleasures is forming something by hand and mounting it on a vehicle. No one else will know the work/pain that was involved except perhaps your truck, car, gun or AFV. oops getting far to filisofical;)

Hang in there....your enthusiasm is most welcome from this newbie

cheers from Windsor

Furthermore Terry, have patience... as you well know, Winter has not yet faded... come Spring, both vehicles and parts from old, thawing storage sheds will start to appear, and life as we know it will slowly get back to normal. You will find what you wish. :)

OD obsession

You'll need to have that OD obsession cured and replaced with a KHAKI obsession instead to follow CMPs!;)
