Distributor drive dog for English Ford V8
I am looking to put an English distributor on a flathead v8.
I believe there is a drive dog that goes between the camshaft and the distributor. Firstly, is this correct? Secondly, Can someone supply one?. If not, can someone put up a photo of one? Lastly, does anyone know of a source for parts,(dist cap, rotor, points etc. Thanks in advance. |
You can see a picture of a Lucas Distributor on this thread.
http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/sh...rd+distributor The drive dog should be permanently attached to the Distributor. The complete Distributors over here sale for approximately £50.00. Points and roator arms are freely available but I don't have any dealer details at work. |

Hi Lynn
Amongst my collection of stuff I have 2 other types of distributors, not shure, which one you're talking about. But here are 2 photos of the different types I've got. Greetings Max |
Max
The first one is English (Lucas) the next one (21a) is the third type Ford distributor.

Lucas
I've always been told that the worst possible of all worlds is a British vehicle with Lucas electricals.
Lots_of_Useless_Crap_And_Solder (LUCAS). Surely you can Buy Better than British! |
Lucas versus Ford
this is probably like thowing a spanner at a wasp nest, but I,ve been told that the British (Lucas?) distributor is a better distributor than the Ford units.
