Does anyone know of a place to get side valve water pump kits these days? I need to rebuild both water pumps on my Dingo Armoured Car. I can be contacted on my mobile 0458 989 155
Thanks guys.

Hi Howard,
I'm in Toowoomba Qld.

Darren, Mac's are good at range and pricing, but the proper water pump kit for the double pulley truck pumps (79-8591) seems to be perpetually out of stock with them, and you might need to go on a back order waiting list. :giveup

If you need it quick, or want to step up in quality, try Mike Davidson in South Australia for his aluminium pumps. Keith Webb has just fitted a pair of these to the Swiss F15, and says with a coat of paint, you'd never know the difference, but the quality and reliability are much better than rebuilt originals.

That's almost correct - the difference is the pulleys he supplies are machined from a billet and look different. Apparently the shaft size is the same and standard pulleys can be fitted. The pumps have improved impellers and proper ceramic seals which work, unlike the rather hit or miss originals.

Hi Darren - this topic has been canvassed numerous times. Mike Davidson, last known price $390 a pair. He lives down my way and I'll probably be seeing him Sunday.

Waterpump kits

There are three likely candidates:

Macs (USA)
Mike Davidson (AUS)
and,
Dennis Carpenter (USA)

I bought ONE kit from Macs.Cost was $19.50? USD with a $59 dollar freight bill. Not happy :(

Other kit came from Mike in SA. $55 delivered. I am very happy as it is in a Macs box..with a Mac's Part number! :)

Dennis Carpenter has reproduction pumps with a different blade angle for less cavitation and better flow. but $$$ was a lot.

Advice is use Mike. P.S. the MLU site is UP! for a change.

Hey thanks guys for the feedback. I found Mikes number on the MLU forum from about 5 years ago. I rang him today and am getting two sent up. I thought I'd let all of you know that he can supply all parts for rebuilding a side valave, and at surprisingly good prices. About $40 each for the kits and about the same for Carbi kits too.

Cheers
