CMP INFOEX Update ?

Can anyone shed some light on what Peter Ford's family is/plans to do with his database ? It would be a shame to see his life's work lost. Robert in Toronto

Peter Ford's CMP INFOEX ??

Anyone heard anything on the fate of Peter's listings ? I thought that his family intended to keep it alive as a tribute to him ? Robert in Toronto

I wish I knew as well what was going to be the case. I have my own extensive Chevrolet database with a few Fords and Dodges. Mine includes rego records from civilian sold CMPs in the UK.

Really?

Really? My MH Ford is HUC 702, probably registered by the Ministry of Supply or the Ministry of Civil Aviation around 1960 - ring any bells ?

Re: Infoex

I'll contact Peter's daughter and find out status... I offered to take it over on his behalf after he died, but the family insisted on keeping it themselves. Back to you when I have an answer.

I am still not certain what the 1942-on Ford designation was for the F60S...it might have been the same as the F30, C29Q but I have noticed that the 30-cwt Light AA vrariant was the C29QF....although actually a 3-tonner. Thanks for that one Vic.

Ford F60S LAA

A lot of these F60S LAA tractors, were bought by bus companies in Britain after the war. It may well be possible that they were unissued which made them an attractive buy. In John Marchants book he encloses copies of submissions to his Canadian vehicle register and there are several on there. This may be why the original bodies are still on those that have survived, as the side lockers would have been useful for a recovery vehicle.

Bus companies

I remember United in the north East had four, three original and one with a Perkins.

Sold off in the 1970s for £150 the lot.

Gordon,
One of our club members bought an ex-United F60S from Northumberland back in the late 70's I think. In much later years another owner changed the body and fitted an ambulance body from a long wheelbase 3 ton CMP.

Rob,
I'm sure they haven't been trashed.
As far as I know Peter's daughter Elizabeth is looking after them, but I don't know whether there are any plans to open them to public view at this stage.

Hanno Spoelstra 22-05-04 22:08

Other than a continuation, are there members on this forum who have any of his CMP INFOEX newsletters/issues? I have never seen Peter's publications and I would love to learn more about them. Could anyone scan and put them on-line?

Thanks,
Hanno

CMP Infoex ?

Just wondering if anyone has any new information with respect to Peter Ford's epic work ? Has it gone with him or does the family still plan to do something with all of that data ? Robert
