Re-engined CMPs
The thread Ryan has started on his new F15 with a Holden 179 motor here made me think this might be an interesting list-type thread to cover the myriad of non-original engines transplanted into CMPs.
Ryan's is not the only one with a Holden 'Red' motor as the one I shot at Corowa in 2008 had one too... not to mention the R-R Viper jet on the back. Here's my quick list of alternate non-original engines I've seen: Ford V8 8BA, 21-stud, Windsor Ford Falcon 6 Ford Truck 6 Holden grey and red motors Perkins 4 cylinder diesel Dodge V8 'Mexican' Chev Toyota Landcruiser Now over to you... |

This one has a Ford 4cyl Diesel.

Keith,
Over here, the common ones fitted when in commercial use, were Ford 4D diesel, Perkins P6 and I knew a chap with a Chev HUP who fitted a Bedford 220 4 cyl diesel. Also Bedford 28hp petrol engines replaced the Chev 216. |
Ah yes

Other than popular types here in Europe like Bedford petrol and Perkins diesel engines (already mentioned), I know of at least two CMPs in Holland re-engined with the GMC 270 engine (as used in the CCKW series of trucks); one HUP and one C60S Wrecker.
Also a few Fords re-engined in France and Belgium with the "French Flathead" (postwar Ford V8) as used in the French SUMB MH600BS 1.5-ton 4x4 truck. Hanno |

The C 60 X also had the GMC 270 installed right from the factory and well as the CMP armoured cars.. |

I know . . . that´s why I specifically mentioned the fact that they are a re-engined HUP and C60S respectively . . . :rolleyes Mind you, it has more to do with the availability of GMC engines here. A friend of mine restored a CGT and planned to put in a GMC 270 engine, but the Chev 216 proved to be in fine condition so he gave it a top end overhaul. H. |
I saw a chev in Victoria at a sawmill with a 6 cylinder austin fitted, used to lift logs
also what about the chev the c15 that Herb owns at Mt Isa, I think he uses a isuzu diesel Max |

Herb runs a 4 cyl Toyota Dyna deisel, oh and he now lives at Warick. Cheers Jeff |
