What are the chances....?

Hi Geoff

What are the chances of having sewing patterns made......... and sold at a profit for MLU...?

Would love to learn about the design, material/tissue used, buttons, etc...

It would be a great very appropriate accoutrement for our events and more practical and affordable than the wollies!!!!!

Not that wouldn't like to see you try to sew, Boobee... :D ... but I had already thought of mebbe having some made - with suitable MLU logos etc - for resale. The kind of events we participate in would be an ideal showcase, n'est-ce pas?

I'll keep ya posted... :sheep:

New picture and details of the "Coveralls"

Our wellknown uniform - collector DB
wears British made (War dated) coveralls
as used by armoured vehicle crews in warm
weather areas, like the Desert.
They are manufactured in khaki drill fabric.
Issued to armoured units, but also for MT
(motor transport) and general duties.

Several sizes available !

Price: € 60,00

Coveralls anyone...?

Hi Geoff.

I would buy either the pattern or the "ready to wear" stuff.......

My experience with the Fort York Guard and period costumes was that too many sizes were needed...too many variables in human sizes.... we always had a surplus of the wrong sizes. It soon became obvious and notably cheaper to line up a repertoire of seamstresses who would build (sew) to suit the owner. With simple patterns I have made my own white undershirt and a variety of drop front pants in both grey flanels and off white canvas.

My paternal grandmother wanted a girl.... she got me.... but taught me to sew on an old Singer threddle machine not to mention knit, crochet, embroidery, etc.......

I realize that the light beige/khaki coveralls were primarily for the motor pool staff but think of all the countless original pictures of Canadian soldiers wearing the coveralls..... some with the old early wedgie head gear.... sleeves rooled up to the elbow...... some wearing the testing ground kidney belts and aviator caps with goggles....... Those scenes are just as original as the origianl staged motor pool pictures of clean full uniformed soldiers with a brace of Officers who would not even think of getting greasy....!

So keep us posted of you plans for a timely financial stimulus package that will launch TO in big wartime production...... the Feds might even give you money for it!!!!

Now to say HI to Dirk....... can you let us know if DB has a web site or how we can order said repro coveralls.....

...and if I have already got Dirk's attention.... do you have any door hinges for the cab 11/12....?

Cheers

BooBee

Hi Bob,

About the orginal coveralls, DB was for the picture a sort of
figurant / movie star !! and no website about his collection.
Still no "Monkey Face" door hinges for sale.

Mvg. Dirk
