MK1 Canadian tank hunter radiator overflow tank
Hi all, Need a little help, has anyone got details of the radiator overflow tank fitted to the Canadian universal tank hunter carrier, all the pics i have seen dont show the tank in the normal position, is the Mk2 carriers overflow tank the same as the Mk1 overflow tank also?. On a three inch mortar carrier it appers on the rear armoured air box on the left hand side, I can borrow a MK2tank but need to know if it is the same on a Mk1. :bang:

The MK1 carriers never had an overflow tank. The line just ran along the underside of the engine deck and out the rear.

just noticed on my top cover it has the metal pipe as per Jordans explanation, where it meets the radiator there is a rubber hose and in my case the remnants of some sort of brass collet which appears to have been sandwiched in by the rad cap ?

Over flow tank
Never seen one on a Mk1 here. Water comes out from the pressure cap through the short rubber hose into an elbow, and down a copper pipe mounted in the engine cover. from there I believe it drops into a small funnel ended pipe, which runs the surplus out of the hull.

Hi all, Thanks for the replies, I am going to fit an expansion tank to mine as it makes sense too. Can you still get the radiator thermostatic cap gasket kits for the carrier, are they the same for a cmp truck?. There appers to be several gaskets required for the cap assembly, If there is a kit you can buy, if so great, it will save me tracking down every gasket. :bang:
thanks kevin. |
