Seeking source for wheel joining studs
I'm looking for reasonably priced bolts that can be made into the studs for joining wheel halves (either the countersunk ones used on 16" rims for the 15 cwt or the mushroom headed ones for the 20" rims on the 60cwt). I measure the thread as 7/8" 11 t.p.i. which matches BSF specs.
After much hunting without luck I came across this site http://www.fastfixdirect.co.uk/code/...rch=Show+Items that seems to list them at GBP 150 per 20 bolts. It's good to know that it's still possible to find them (I'd just about given up hope) but does anyone have a more economic source? |
What we did...
Ganmain Tony had several made up by a machine shop
I cannot remember what the costs were but he turned them & then fitted them too, for what I thought was a reasonable price... Try a local machine shop. HH |
I may end up having to get them custom made but it seems that if there's an off the shelf solution that can be either used "as-is" or modified to suit that it should be simpler and thus cheaper than a fully custom solution. One possibility I was thinking of was to take a standard bolt and turn down the head to either the mushroom shape used on the 20" rims or a suitable shape for the countersunk style on the 16" wheels.
