Gentlemen,

It's been almost a year since we last broached this subject, but I feel an obligation to bring this to your attention once more. While I've been the grateful recipient of a number of donations since then, circumstances are once more forcing me to ask you to consider donating to our cause.

While our expenses remain little changed they are consistent, and the fact that I'm in the process of being forcibly "retired" from my job as I type this make things that much more complicated at the moment (incidentally, this new development is the reason why we haven't changed servers yet, and why I haven't yet produced the shirts we talked about - both actions will be completed when I receive whatever monies the company deigns to give me).

In any case, we could use your help.

As you know, I've been running this operation almost single-handedly for eleven years now. It's been a labour of love (albeit not an easy one at times), and I've tried to carry most of the burden myself. Some of you have been invaluable in assisting me in this, both financially and in terms of moral support, and I appreciate it more than you know. All I'm asking is that you consider what you feel MAPLE LEAF UP means to you, is worth to you, and think about making a small donation to reflect this.

My apologies Geoff, but I have been meaning to send a cheque since before Christmas. :doh: Thanks for the little prod. The cheque will go out in tomorrows mail and even with the poor economy in most countries, I hope other MLUers will do the same. :thup2:

Here in Australia, 30 June is the end of our financial year and it is around this time that I find my letterbox being crammed with magazine subscription and club membership renewals. I feel that any support for Geoff's work ( :salute:)should also be viewed in the context of being a subscription to a club or publication, one that you should consistantly renew, and not just a one-off payment. I know that I derive just as much entertainment from MLU as from my other memberships, and probably spend way more time here. (BTW, this is my 3000th post! :cheers:)

With this in mind, why not make a resolution that you will "Renew" each year on a particular date, say New Year's Day, Anzac day, D-Day, or Rememberance Day? Heck, be a Skinflint and make it 29 Feb! Just do it!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the eleven MLU members who have donated since I posted this thread. Your generosity humbles me! It's spirits like yours which continue to inspire me, and yes, there are some very positive changes on the way shortly.

I thank you again, from the bottom of my heart... MLU will continue to be one of the best sites of its type on the internet! :thup:

Sorry, overlooked this subject. Considering how much of my money 'my bankers' have spoiled in the last year and had fun with it, I guess a small "investment" in this forum is the better way to spend it - and here I have fun with it!
