Colour photos of CMP wanted for brochure
 

Hi! You know that you have all been wonderful and sent me shots of CMPs...well I have a mega problemo still! I need some colour shots of CMPs, preserved, for a brochure ready for the CMP book. I am told that we need photos of trucks down lanes, etc. with no people or clutter...i.e. photogenic. Can anyone help please with any of their trucks down a dirt road, or on grass etc.?

PS like the articles in Heritage Commercials. My father used to have a copy of the Vauxhall publication that you have used to illustrate the text.
As a small boy I nearly rubbed the ink off the pages reading and re-reading it. In fact I learnt to read so that I could read the picture captions!!. Sadly with the passing of the years his copy has become lost.

Mr fussy Editor says thank you for the shots I sent him, and some would make excellent rear brochure cover shots. However if anyone is in the UK say and would like a professional photographer take perfect pix of their beauty, let me know. Thanks again Rolf, John, Keith for the shots that I sent on for inspection.

There will be a small 6-wheeler CMP artvile in HERITAGE COMMERCIALS shortly..anyone got any pix of a F60T please and C60S tractor-tug in Aussie please?

I'm about to go out to take some pictures of Euan's CGT - hopefully something suitable set in amongst the gum trees... at least we don't have any snow or salt on our roads like our cool Canuck pals.:)

David, you know Ballard's F15 Polsten is only a short hop for you, in signal clerk mode I can easily whiz any request 400 yds down the road and we do have about 1/2 acre of untended countryside directly behind Ballard's garage which I rent for Stolly parking.

You can either do one/several yourself or I can manage 1.3mpx TIFFs digitally; I don't know your timescale but we also will have a heap of CMPs a little later this year when Pete A of the Oxford LRDG brings the clutch down here for Overlord and I dare say a few we don't know about too. I can find you any amount of backdrop countryside at the show site.

We'll do it tomorrow morning. I'm also filming a road test for the video I have in production. Euan gave me a drive yesterday - it's quite different to the standard blitz due to the weight of the body there is a bit of body sway on cornering - normally they corner very flatly and it's a little disconcerting. The "Mexican" Chev with extractors delivers plenty of horsepower and torque and is extremely smooth. Brakes are good and it's great fun to drive.
Soooo... we'll try to find something looking "Pommy" for a background.

You cannot replicate grey drab skies in the middle of a Melbourne summer ! Maybe with some fancy software , yes, it is possible .

No you bloody well can't. :)

Have to wait a few months, apart from that I really don't think Ballard will take it out of the (heated) garage as the roads are damp and they did use salt a few weeks ago. We'll have to wait for the passing of the spring rains to wash the counryside and the weather to settle.

The gun is off too as the Proof House want to see the previously chopped off chamber, the 1/2" wide 2" slot in whats left, the 1/2" long welded-in steel plug and Ballard's made to drawing back end that never had the mechanism and bolt group.

Then he gets the official billet doux and the tiny stamp in the metal, plus no fear of a mandatory year in jail for a sect. 5 offence, that is, so long as the plod don't pull him on the way to Birmingham with the steelware as it is a gun until the Proof House say it isn't.

Mike, I've seen your MC steering wheel, nice; RB has done the restoration already.

Christ ! I can't wait to see that Steering wheel . This means some serious restoring can happen now . I was going to have to buy a whole civilian Morris truck just to rat the Steering wheel , then scrap the rest of the truck . I have a nice MCC centre boss waiting for that wheel .

That deact Ballard Polsten gun must have the authorities in a tizz
I guess 20mm is a in-between bore size and they cannot decide whether its a artillery piece or a small semi auto rifle .

I read all about Preston of the Cobbaton , and his long fight with the authorities over his museum exhibits , he spent many pounds getting things stamped . He was actually charged with a offence at one point wasnt he ? Had to go to court .

I know Centurion tank owners in NSW had to have a annual police inspection , to check the welds on the breech etc. of the large weapon .
