Unknown WWII Pictures

The following pictures were just given me, there are no notations or any explanation of any kind. The challenge is to identify the location of the pictures an any other details that can be drawn from them.

The pictures shown below have been reduced in size to 679 x 554 pixels. On my web page the links go to the ordinal scans which are 5233 x 4068 pixels at 1200 dpi which you can blowup for more details.

If you want to see them larger I've posted them on my web page

From left t right I may help for the first three pics:

1) Libya, Benghazi, Central Square. The 'Presidio' would be on the left just outside the picture.
2) Libya, Benghazi, the Italian Cathedral
3) Libya, Barce, the Main Road

Eliabeth's hubby

The fourth, and possibly the fifth pics are of Philip Mountbatten. He served in the Royal navy in the Mediterranean and Pacific theatres so these two pics could be taken just about anywhere. Philip Mountbatten is better known today as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and is the Royal Consort. Derek.

Thanks for helping to identify now look closer

For the fun of it who can identify the vehicles in the first picture? Also look in the corner behind the men in the courtyard, is that a pair of the battery carts that have been discussed in another thread?

Kuno- My guess as to location when I first saw them was Palistine, but after you identified them I looked closer at the lettering on the Church and Benghazi made more senses. How did you identify the sites so quickly?

Also does any body know if these are reprints of common photos or likely to have been taken by an individual?

Cheers

Spent three years in Benghazi and the buildings are still there.

I don't think Mountbatten and Prince Phillip are the same person. I think it is Mountbatten in the picture but he was murdered by the IRA in the 1979 I think. Prince Phillip is well still Prince Phillip acording to his wife Queen Elizebeth.
Derek you have been away from the colonies for too long now!

No, Harry, I haven't been away too long. Lord LOUIS Mountbatten was Philip's uncle.

From wikipedia:

Philip was originally a royal prince of Greece and Denmark, and thus a member of the Danish-German House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, but renounced these titles shortly before his marriage and adopted the surname of his maternal grandparents, to become known as Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten.

I believe that Harry is saying that the chap in the picture is Mountbatten Senior/..
I agree..
Look at the sleeve and the gold braid on the lad...
Prince Phil was a lowly three ringer at this time ..
The likeness are striking at that age..
Lord Mountbatten gets my vote..
:remember :support :drunk:
