Hi,
We have four 1942 Ford Blitz Wagons. Chevrolet & Ford manuals. These trucks have always been shedded and three still work. We also have at least six of each: Gear boxes, transfer cases, front and rear axles. Some Chev parts but mainly Ford. Large quantity of shock absorbers, clutches, distributors, water pumps, starters, radiators, generators, springs - All these items have always been shedded. A retirement dream for forty five years that will not eventuate. Please see photos for further details. Ideally we would like to sell them in one lot. Inspection
Yesterday I went to Rugby to have a look at the collection, and met Andrew and his dad who kindly showed me around the treasures.
There are as shown above four Ford CMPs for sale. Two have original motors and the other two have Ford four cylinder diesel conversions. Andrew's dad's preference is to sell them as a lot, with spares, so it's no use to bother them with offers for any of the parts seen here. (if there were I would certainly have bought some of them!) These notes are from my observations so if there's anything I've missed or have wrong, please hop in Andrew. An overall comment is that the condition of the sheet metal is outstanding, with these vehicles always carefully shedded and what a difference that makes. Having said that if you were after an untouched original you won't find it here as they have all been altered in some way, albeit very professionally. The first (in no particular order) is this short wheelbase: http://gallery.me.com/oldcmp.net/100...12487521750001 It has one of the diesel engines fitted and is built from a medium wheelbase chassis, I suspect it may have been a tipper originally. It is in running condition and looks to be a fine unit. Next is the 6X6: http://gallery.me.com/oldcmp.net/100...12487521450001 Not at all what it seems. Believe it or not this started life as a F60S Ambulance No2. It has been extensively modified with a pair of Chev rear axles and what William said was a LARC transfer case. He had to engineer a second small transfer case to reverse the direction of the front prop shaft: http://gallery.me.com/oldcmp.net/100...12487521490001 Third is a crane built (I think) on another medium wheelbase chassis but fitted with 16" wheels and a lazy axle. This one has a V8. 24 hours from Rugby
G'day All, Well thanks for that Keith, as I was 24 hours out from heading over that way, I was planning on leaving tomorrow evening around 1630hrs and driving Sth down past Goulbourn and pulling in off the road to sleep and make my way up to Rugby Thursday, anyway I knew that they had stated 'sell them all including spares' but I was going to try my luck, anyway we are not going anywhere now cheers Dennis :sheep: :thup:

Oh yes!
What I didn't mention was it was a morning of discovery. Just south of Young there is a batch of four Chevs on a farm visible from the road, then coming into Boorowa there's an ex-RAAF Chev crane still in use and next to it the remains of two C15s, and another blitz on a hill on the way to Rugby. So if you count the chassis, there were 14 new discoveries. That doesn't happen often in one day. :thup2: :thup2: Quote:

The short answer is no, not enough time... the ones at Boorowa I had a brief look at, just enough to see the WO R101 on the crane... the two C15 chassis with it were wrecks and the others were on farms. |
