Camouflage paint on canvas

When you look through the pamphlets on camouflage they always list a special paint to use on the canvas and it's usually a slightly different colour. Judging by this picture, they didn't have those problems in the field. Just spray it all with the same paint and don't worry about it?

It looks like they didn't worry much about following the original pattern when they did the respray as well. But then, they had other more important things to worry about.

At least he is spraypainting it! There is also ' that' other picture of the ladies putting on camuflage with brushes!

By the way, does anyone recognize that castle in the background? Falaise maybe?

Alex, is this the one you meant? On the last pic, notice how they totally ignored the original pattern. On the second pic, he's likely repainting the roof to cover the roundel so he can paint the star there too. Does anyone else have repainting pictures?

For interest's sake, not a repainting picture, but painting. This photo from the Weasel promotional brochure shows Studebaker workers puttiing on the black arctic camouflage onto the white canvas canopies for T24s. The vehicles themselves were similarly done.
As far as I am aware, the Weasel was the only allied vehicle to come from the factory in one of three factory standard camouflage schemes, comprising two zigzag patterns and one spotted pattern (shown here).

The caption provided by Steve Guthrie on MILIFAX clarifies some of the questions this picture may raise.

A member of the 1st Canadian Army Tank Brigade resprays a CMP 15-cwt truck in preparation for the invasion of Sicily. Notice how he is following the outline of the original brush-painted Micky Mouse Ear pattern with the new coat of paint. Also notice the difference in shade, the new paint being much darker than the old. This may be SCC No.14 Black vs Dark Tarmac No.4 or even SCC Ia Dark Brown. The overall colour is probably SCC No.2 Brown.

Yes, that's the one.

Dave, I am not sure if he is trying to cover the roundel; the man handling the door seems to be tracing the contour of the star, so I guess the stars were already there and they are just giving the truck a fresh-up (?)
