M10 Tank Destroyer
Hi
Having acquired quite a few parts for our M4A3E8 project we have found ourselves with some early suspension parts, so we are thinking of doing a full size replica running and working M10 tank destroyer. If anyone has any parts they would like to sell or donate to the project please contact me. Pictures and manuals for Canadian M10's would also be appreciated. Thank you Dan |
Dan,
Sounds like a vintage Ferrari restoration, starting with some early suspension parts and ending up with a fully reconstructed vehicle complete with a Le Mans pedigree. ;) All kidding aside: if you are going to do an M10 replica, I'd suggest to make a 3 inch Ram SP. Basically the same, but with some differences to make it stand out from the crowd! Just my EUR 0,02 worth, Hanno http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/at...0&d=1133563720 |
m10 engines
Hi
I forgot to add that we will especially need the parts to make up the twin pack 671 engines also know has the General Motors 6046. We have one engine already but need another and the unit with the clutches that mates them together. Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you Dan |

BTW, the 'A3 had an eight-cylinder Ford GAA engine, while the 'A2 had the twin GM 671 diesel power pack (if that helps)... |
Turret..

You need a completly different turret,as the M10 had the open turret.. See the model.. http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=h...ed=0CB4Q9QEwBQ |
M10 project
Hi
Seems to be a little confusion. We are gathering the parts together to build ( yes, build ) a replica M4A3E8. We have the proper turret, two GAA engines , some HVS suspension and lots of internal parts. Still looking for a hull. In our search for parts we have also acquired some early VVS suspension and a early three piece front hull. With that we have decided to put the M4A3E8 on the back burner and start to work on the M10. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dan Canadian Military Education Centre, Chilliwack, B.C., Canada www.cmedcentre.ca |
I don't think many, if any production M10s were built with the 3 piece front but if you're only building a 'replica' then Hannos suggestion might be your best bet.
You would need the early, M3 style suspension, it's not clear from your posts exactly which ones you have. |
M10
Hi
We have both the vertical and horizontal suspension assemblies. Dan |
Hi Dan,
there are two types of vertical suspension. The original style with the return roller on top as shown in Hannos pic of the Ram 3" SP and the later style with the return roller mounted on a bracket behind the main casting. The latter would be correct for an M10 proper and the former for the Ram SP. |
The Kenosha (Wisconsin) MV museum had some hulls for sale a few years ago. Jesse

M10 project continues.
Hi everyone.
I have been successful in finding the engine pack for our M10 project. It looks like we may be starting the build soon. My quest now is for agun breach. This could be the 3 inch or 17 pounder. A complete one would be nice but we will settle for any parts we can get. We will probably fabricate the barrel if we can't find one. Anyone got anything? Thanks Dan |
the "Mountain"
Lest anyone doubt what the "Merlin on the Mountain" gets done up there Dan you should post some pic's of the Lynx and LAV before and afters. :note:
