F/S Smoke Discharger Bits

4 Attachment(s)
Came across 19 smoke discharger remote triggers attached to the short 41" bowden cable as well as the longer 62" cable. All in NOS condition.
The triggers all have proof marks stamped into each part.

$40.00 gets you both cables plus the trigger + postage.

Skuze me but.......

HI Bruce

They look like bicycle hand brakes..... just for my own understanding.... they are intended to remotely pull the trigger and fire the cut off Ross rifle smoke discharger devices mounted outside the UC shell?? Am I right?

Or were the Ross rifle device installed only on the C15TA and other armoured vehicles like the Lynx.....Otter....

4" Dischargers

1 Attachment(s)
Dischargers were either Canadian Ross's or British SMLE Enfields. The cables were for external mounts like Mk.1 carriers, Matildas and Crusaders. Triggers were used for internal mounts like Otters, Humbers and Fox. Picture is of a pair of trigger fired Ross's in the upper right side of a Fox turret.

MK I carrier install

2 Attachment(s)
Hi Bob,

On the mk I carrier the discharger was installed on that funny cast bracket on the outside of the hull behind the driver and the trigger was located on the right rear inside hull right below the antenna mount.

Bob Carriere 17-03-10 21:24

I see..... except for the smoke!!

....thanks for the educational opportunity.....

How was the cable attached to the trigger.... is the cable housing bolted through the trigger guard and attached to the trigger......?

So like a bicycle brake handle.....pushing on the handle pull the cable which fires the smoke bomb...... and the blank .303 actually ignites/sets off the smoke charge....

Thanks Bruce.

If anyone has an extra, or plans on casting repros of that funny cast bracket for a mk1, please let me know.

Have discharger, no mount.

Phillip,

I am out at the moment, but I think I have some more in the pipeline...stand by.

Barry Churcher 30-04-10 01:38

Brad, I have been remise in thanking you for the triggers. It can be attributed to senility or just advancing years. I will give you positive feedback on MLU-Bay. Positive communication, fast shipping, well packed, exactly as described,
would deal again, good MLU seller. :)
Thanks, Barry

Hi Bruce, great pics and info! stupid question- will the bracket also fit on the Mk2? :confused

Adame 09-05-10 23:27

MkII*

Hi David

The MKII* is different mount configuration.

I have a MKI discharger bracket as well but I would love to trade it for a MKII* bracket.

If you ever get a chance buy Nigel Watsons book its very helpful, and he lives on yourside of the pond.

Cheers
Adam
