I need some grown-up help here....

where do I find bolts for this?
what bolts arwe they?

any copies of a parts manual?

On the up side - it does run....

Pictures tomorrow - maybe.

BSA Manuals

I don't have any to make copies of but have seen some reproductions listed on eBay (but haven't looked recently) . If my memory is working, the reproductions were coming from either UK or Australia so you might want to start your searches on those localized eBay sites.

Fateners are Cycle thread (26TPI) with Whitworth heads (no A/F rubbish on Birminghams' finest). Some of the larger stuff (1/2" up) may be 20TPI. For generic fasteners try Namrick, otherwise Russell Motors in London or, as a last resort, Draganfly.

Thanks so far -

I've got the driver/operators manual, and a few catalogues from Russel and Dragon.

The big cry out for me is to locate a parts book that says what goes where, and how it's held on. Many holes are stripped and I may end up "bolting through" or tapping out to a modern size.

My personal approach is that you can do whatever you want, just don't mess it up for the next guy (or gal)

I started up the "THUMPMASTER 500" yesterday but it's skittish as a blushing bride. Sometimes it will , and sometimes it won't... you get the idea.

It must be alergic to gearoil as well. The pint I put in yesterday pretty much fell out overnight without even slowing down.

Does this mean I don't have to pull the drainplug to flush it?

thx

Nice to see the bike being worked on. Maybe one day this summer we can try out those carrier platoon tactics.

Bring it to Westfield or the Canada Day Parade.

Jordan Baker; Bring it to Westfield or the Canada Day Parade.[/QUOTE]

I (and therefore the carrier and Bike) won't be at Westfield. I'll be halfway down the St Lawerence in the boat on the way to Prescott and Ogdensburg.

As to Canada day - depends - if it's in good enough shape to trust to anyone else to drive. I can handle my machines' foibles - it's a lot to ask of someone who doesn't own the machine to take the responsibility.

Malden maybe if the 1812 event at Sacketts Harbour is cancelled.

The MV muster in Aug is the best bet.

You can trust me with Bucky and the Indian Mutt ;)

DR stuff and Kit

Hey Charlie,

There is an example in the museum where the muster will take place...perhaps I can persuade them to let me get it going and dress the part...Jordan....I suspect you will have your engine in about 3-4 weeks...how does that sound....?

cheers

Mike

Get used to it .It is british !!!! They design things to leak oil
That is how they guarantee regular oil changes and lubrication from the leak back :D

Hi Charlie

could you share some info on the Sackett's harbour...Prescott event.....

I used to be part of the I.M.U.C. associated with Fort York back in the 80s....

....I might enjoy being on shore taking pot shots at passing forces..... I can be on either shore of the river depending which side you are fighting on...

In the 80s when we battled in Sacketts we fired only live rounds...... have you guys wussed up your shooting to blanks loads now ????

I used to be part of the I.M.U.C....

(We were gonna deep fry a turkey, but couldn't find a pot big enough for an IMUC guy.... inside joke)

Two events here - Down the St L from around Malloryton on or about 13 July, followed by a few days in Prescott and the weekend in Ogdensburg.
Supposed to be the last significant FandI event for a few years. Join us for the sail if you can and wish, there should be room - min kit requirement.

Sacketts harbour is supposed to be on the same weekend as the Aug Holiday. Planned as a "grand tactical" and it looks like the State of NY is yanking support.

There's another handfull of events for us in the summer as well.

This is our boat, The FERRET.
