SEXTON SPG, Date of manufacture

I am restoring a Sexton SPG here in UK and am looking for info on its date of manufacture. Its has serial number 1903 and was S-287191. Has any one got any info or access to records to assist ?

Carl; I can't give you an exact date of manufacture, but I can share what I found on my Sexton (1900). The majority of the parts on the gun are dated 45, some 44. The gun seems to be original to the vehicle. Does your Sexton have the three piece differential? It seems there was a batch made with the three piece nose around the serial number 1900. I sure would like to see some pictures of it. Jesse

Hi Carl,
Received your e-mail the other day and I have forwarded it to Roger Lucy who is currently workiung on a book on the Ram and its variants. he has indicated to me that production data - by vehicle number - is very sparse at this point.

Indeed - see Sexton serial numbers. That's all I know at this point in time Carl, sorry.

Hanno

Thanks guys for your help so far. I tend to favour it being an early 1945 build ?
Anyway have attached a couple of pics. Its having a make over and will be at War and Peace Show again this year.
Jesse as you can see it has a 3 piece differential which ties in with what you say.

Carl; How extensive of a restoration are you planning? Jesse.

I won't be stripping and restoring it to the level that you have done yours. We just wanted to get it up and running again and make it as complete as possible. Pics attached of what it was like when we got it. It came from SECO where yours came from, and was one of the last 3 remaining in their yard.
As you can see it was in a real state. Hope to have it looking more like a sexton again within the month.

Carl; An exiting project. Amazing how complete these Sextons were after all the years. Jesse.
