I have an 84 cucv m1009 that is a joy to drive but the insurance is killing me. Any suggestions as to who to use or anything else I can do. I only drive it around town once maybe twice a week.

Try Lant Insurance (http://www.lant-ins.ca/index.php). I am having a similar problem in that my broker cannot find an underwriter for my Iltis. Same broker that I have had for 25 years and covers my car, house and my 1970 sports car. I called Lant and they wil cover the Iltis for $100. and only $166. for the TR6. I need to get them proffessionaly appraised first though and there are limitations on driving (see link).

Yes, Lant (Aviva) is the only way to go with an historic vehicle.

Usage restrictions, under Aviva's Golden Wheels program, are not nearly as restrictive as they once were. No yearly mileage limitation, OK for pleasure drives. You cannot use your HV to go back and forth to work. You must have a legally registered and insured other vehicle.

If an old diesel truck that is a close version of a current commercial model is costing that much, either you live in a place where they don't know trucks or you are getting ripped off. What is the fire/theft/vandalism coverage you are carrying? I'd only worry about liability on an old truck.

Thanks. I'll try Lantis. The only hiccup is I don't have another insured vehicle. My daily driver is a company vehicle, as a taxable benefit though. And my wife is the primary driver on our minivan.
