My Goat

I just thought I would share some pictures of my new toy. It is a 1972 Gama Goat I got from some friends in BC. This Goat was used in the X-Men movie as well as a couple others :thup2:.

Nice.
Had a ride in one on the river a few years back. Are they really as good Off-Road as the books say? The are bit of a rarity over here.

Gamma Goat

Oh, what fond memories of the "goat". I had a goat for recce and we had one for the command post for our gun battery while on exchange in Fort Benning, Georgia. We were hosted by the 2/10 FA Bn and took over "C" Battery's stores, while they froze their everluvins off in Valcartier. We got the better deal in my estimate.

Back to the goat - I am taller than the average joe, and therefore, getting into and exiting the goat were points of amusement for my driver and others in the vicinity...

I can vouch for the crosscountry ability of this vehicle. In fact, it performed better in the rough than it did on the metalled roads. It was slower than the other vehicles on paved roads and blacktracks, but once we got into the wetlands, it did its job quite well. We forded a few deep water crossings but nothing that got us afloat for any length of time. The only complaint I had was that the cab and the rear box were not watertight (as attested by my then two-tone uniform).

It was a fun truck to drive and is about as ugly as a CMP. Good to see one here in Canada.
