Destruct switch

Pictured is a pannel with a destruct switch, you can see on the label a sign,US with an anchor in the middle, is this component something to do with the US navy, John.

It's the control unit for the APX-6 IFF transponder. Made in early 1950s, used by US Navy aircraft. The main transponder had 3 explosive charges to be used if plane was to crash or ditch.
Not used in vehicles. :) |
Thanks for the info Bruce, Its one of those things that you pick up and wonder what it is fore. Not having a US aircraft I am now at a loss as to what to do with it, thanks, John.

Clean it up, flatten the corners and mount it on a nice desk base. Depending on what your office space is like, you might have visitors pawing over the gadgets and stress relievers some people have on their desks. When the first wise-guy flips up the big cover, immediately dive for cover under the desk shouting for others to, 'TAKE COVER!'.
