Canadian contraption, C1905
Not military, nevertheless this is quite amazing. This is the preview size.
Here's a link to the page it is on at Shorpy. It is well worth it, the detail is incredible having been shot on a 10X8 dry plate camera. All I know is I want one. Yes, both a 10X8 camera and this contraption. http://www.shorpy.com/files/images/4a20805a.preview.jpg |
Keefy
I'd be quite happy to have my free 160 acres next to yours, but you'll have to park that hybrid contraption away from my side!

Now I could just see me driving that to town to do the shopping :D :thup2:

Louis Chevrolet

The Driver looks like he has that "2000yd Prairie Stare"
|
Northwood Ho
That looks like it may be elecrically driven.
|
One of the things that struck me was that the contraption has smooth tread solid tires in the snow....... and we think the NDCC bar treads are bad for skidding on smooth surfaces.... we must be getting soft.
|
Keefy, what makes you think it is Canadian?
Is it the timber used? Method of construction? Some minor detail in the background? I am always amazed at your powers of observation! |

Appliqué oil
Looks like they weren't above smudging some "authentic" oil marks on her cheeks. Nice shot though: Link.

About to be more oil

"According to "The Golden Years of Trucking" published by the Ontario Trucking Association in 1976, this was a gas-electric four-wheel-drive truck built by the Commercial Motor Vehicle Co. of Windsor, Ontario. It had an electric motor on each wheel, was 20 feet long and had an 81-inch track. The four cylinder engine produced 20 HP. The truck was sent to England to visit "every town and village in the country." Because it was so underpowered it never made it out of London." |
Hard to believe.
Such an amazing amount of design and engineering work, to end up as such a f. up!!
