6 Pounder 7 cwt MkII 1942
Hello to all,
I have just bought a 6 Pounder to tow behind my Universal Carrier. Does anybody have manuals and parts books for this Anti-tank Gun? Copies or CD/DVD will be fine. Originals also welcome if reasonably priced. Thank you. Cheers, Marc van Aalderen |
Lucky guy Marc, I am searching for one too!

Hello Alastair and Rob,
I was looking for a 6 Pr for many years. They are extremely rare in private hands and seldom come up for sale. For the moment I only have the photo from the advertisement on Milweb. As soon as the paperwork comes through and I can collect the gun I will post more photo's. Rob, I have seen you are restoring one. Do you have accessories you don't need? I have no dragropes, cleaning rods, wire brush, handles, etc.... I do have ammo, convoy light (but missing cable), two incorrect firing mechanisms (don't fit breech block). Hello Hanno,
Thank you for that. :salute: I would have no idea how to do that. :giveup Cheers, Marc |
Marc.
I saw the gun advertised on Milweb and as you have said it is very rare to find a 6 pdr for sale,so its gone to a good home which is the main thing. I do have some NOS pull throughs dated 1944 and I also have NOS no 4 mop bags for the pull throughs. send me a private message and I will send some pics of what I have. Hello to All,
I picked up the 6 Pdr last Tuesday. Manuals arrived Friday, thanks to Rob van Meel. The Gun appears to be correct for a MkII Gun on a Mk1 Carriage build in 1942. I tried to find out on the internet who produced UK built 6 Pdr's but drew a blank. The Carriage has a data plate that reads VA Ltd. I think that will be Vickers Armstrong Ltd? As one of the biggest manufacturers they probably also made the Guns? Anybody got more info on this? Now the hunt for CES can commence. Anybody got anything in 6 Pdr stuff they have double or want to sell regardless? Cheers, Marc Attachment 38050 Attachment 38051 Attachment 38052 Attachment 38053 Attachment 38054 |

6 Pounder Club
Hi Marc:
Congratulations on your acquisition and on joining the club! Mine is a Canadian made version. Repairing the sight shutter cable was easy using a modern bicycle cable cut down to fit. I have all the Canadian manuals in photocopy. Speaking of manuals don't forget to acquire a copy of Service Publications "Six Pounder in Canadian Service" by Doug Knight. Cheers! Mike |
6 Pdr
Hello Rod and Mike,
Thank you for your replies. I would very much like to see some pics of your guns :). Rod, I sent you an email about the stuff you have for sale/swap. Mike, I have a copy of this little booklet. I expected some more info on CES but unfortunately there is none at all. Otherwise nice reading. Cheers, Marc van Aalderen |

Hello All,
On the 5th of May we participated in the annual parade in Wageningen. This time I took the 6 Pdr for it's first trip since I bought it. We got many great remarks and compliments. These guns are quite rare in Holland except for the ones in museums. You hardly ever see them on the streets. The British veteran in the front of the Carrier was driving a Loyd towing a 6 pdr. during the later part of the war. Attachment 42070 Attachment 42071 Attachment 42072 Attachment 42075 The weekend after Wageningen we went to Opperdoes station to participate in a great show. We took the Dingo, Carrier and 6 Pdr. there. Attachment 42074 Cheers, |

Hi,
I have sourced some CES to go with my gun. Found the little oil bottle and grease gun for on the inside of the shield. Got the brass stave ends, post war dated (1971) but part numbers the same as war time manual. Also obtained the striker with extra parts, shoulder rest for the layer, hook for tackle and block. The Carriage cover I already had for 5 or 6 years. Attachment 42430Attachment 42431Attachment 42432 Attachment 42433Attachment 42434 Still looking for the spare parts box on the shield and the tool roll. Anybody got these surplus to their needs? Does anybody have more info on who made these guns in the UK? The carriage is marked VA Ltd. which probably means Vickers Armstrong. As one of the big armament factories they probably also made the guns? There is not much info to be found on the web about this. Cheers, |

A recent acquisition.

Kevin,
Good question and glad Adrian could answer it as I had also no idea up till now. :yappy: Any more to be found Adrian? Cheers, |
Thanks Adrian, Not the one I have just acquired then, mmmm the search continues.
Kevin. |
It's the only one I have seen, it's similar to the 25 pr tool roll, unsurprisingly but different in detail.
Found at a local car boot sale, though not by me! If we could find the correct canvas, it would be easy to reproduce. |
here's a second ! picked it up today.

Still working on the final details, but nothing is a done deal, so just looking for some kit in case something does come through.
