Fuel tank vent tubes

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has some close up pictures and descriptions of the fuel tank vent tubes for a Mk1 UC.

Im just trying to figure out the fittings that go on the tubes.

Anyhelp is much appreciated.

Jordan i still have them on my hull but cant get pics to you until tonight (England time) they are just steel microbore with a loop on the top (like a walking stick) with two brass hex nuts at the base, not sure of thread type but i will be able to tell you the nut size and bore size later.

Thanks guys.

Richard if you could get a picture of the actual fittings that would be great. Thanks Lynn, the 2nd picture is one of my tanks. I had the original tubes and fittings on my 2nd tank but the shop tossed them on me when the rebuilt it. Wasn't too happy about it and I never took a picture of them

Are all the Canadian tanks vented this way? Some tanks vent through the cap (the cap with the ball in them) I just wondered as to the origins. I thought the ones with the breather tubes like yours were early, and the vented cap type was later production.

Lynn when i spoke with Nigel Watson i believe he said the vent system as pictured above was only used on Mk1's they changed it on Mk2 and later variations. i cannot comment further, merely passing on what i was told.

Lynn, I have no idea as to all Cnd ones being that way. I really only know Mk1 stuff.

Richard, If you could get me the tube size and fittings size also that would be great.

Thanks

right i measured my pipes "ooh err" and they appear to be 8mm OD steel construction. the nuts on the ends are steel and not brass as i had previously thought. i could not get a spanner to fit 1/2" was just too small and 9/16th was just too big. (i dont know what thread it is too)

here are some pics i did get.

thanks. Any chance of a picture of the fittings for the tubes on the tank? ie what the above pictured ones attach too?

sure i will dig the remains of my tank out and get some snaps.

In that case Richard the spanner size will be 1/4" Whitworth. I suspect they will be 1/8" BSP threads. Ron
