25 pdr breech block

Is there any interest in a 25 pdr breech block? I don't expect to ever have need of it for my Sexton. Jesse.

Keep it!

Hello Jesse,

I've been watching your progress on the Sexton in silent awe. You are a man with many talents and skills. I do take my hat of to you for a perfect job almost done.
If I may give you some advice I would hold on to the breech block. There eventually comes a time you are going to sell the Sexton to a future generation of enthousiasts. That breech block will be very hard to replace by that time. Just keep it as it doesn't eat bread, as we say in Holland.
All the best,

Hi Jesse,
I know it would cost a mint to freight it to Australia, though seamail would be the cheapest, so what do you want for it. Do you have the striker case/firing pin bit?
I have 2 x 25pdrs and am in need of a breech block and striker case.
Thanks Rick.

Hi Rick,

I'm after the striker box for my 6 Pdr and have a 25 Pdr striker box for exchange. Maybe you have the one I need or can get one?

Cheers,

Rick; All I have are the parts in the picture. Jesse.

I concur with the posting above about keeping. We are only temporary caregivers of this artifacts. In twenty years someone will come along and offer you a price or a trade that will let you eat a notch higher on the foodchain. That 70 yr old part in the spares bin now might be absolutely irreplaceable in another few years. I don't collect bayonets with my guns, but if it comes with one at a good price I won't refuse it.

It looks like the concensus is for me to keep it. I had originally planned to make tha gun gas fired, and will probably still do that. I don't have the money for a new barrel, and the rest of the breech parts. I also don't want to deal with the governments reqirement for owning a live gun. I will build something that looks like the complete assembly, but does not fire projectiles. Jesse.
