Wanted universal joint

2 Attachment(s)
Wanted a universal joint for my Loyd Carrier.

Its a joint used in a Ford transmission (close tube). The Fordson 15cwt was used as a basic to build the Loyd.

The joint is 3 5/16 wide incl. bearings and the bearing is 1 1/4 thik,
see photo.

its not a standard Ford number so finding it makes it hard (Dirk Leegwater cant help me) so who know's something.

Hi Paul,

You might try www.drivetrain.com in the US of A. They sell a lot of parts like this. You probably will have to sent an email with measurements. Good luck.

you should be able to go to a competant automotive parts supplier and give them the dimensions and let them source it for you.

Kind of basic sourcing of a part.

Paul,

Maybe it helps if you refer to a Fordson 7V parts book?

From Alistair's research I understand the Loyd was based on the 7V truck.

An after market U.J. should do it. the big hole does nothing? All you will need is the info you gave; 1. dia. of caps. 2.measurement from outside of the caps with the caps on the yolk.

The hole is for mounting the yoke on to the gearbox with a bolt. There is no space with out the hole for the bold's head.

But i'ts possible to rebuild the mounting if there is no other option.
