Has anyone got it yet? Any Dutch members? Here some more details: Official website: http://www.frituurzorro.nl/ Review on HMVF: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread...twar-civvy-use Review on Panzerwrecks: http://www.panzerwrecks.com/Frituurzorro1info.html Review on Armorama: http://www.armorama.co.uk/modules.ph...ontent&id=5762 Looks worth getting it. in one of the old Convoy Magazines there is a two page spread which was an advertisment from a postwar company that specialized in converting CMPs (mostly 15cwt) into a wide variety of civvie roles.
maybe someone can post a scan of it? Quite interesting to see them modified to a civvie life...but with a bit of sadness too.. |

Hi,
Maybe some of you already know our books Frituur Zorro. Filled with hi-quality photos of WWll trucks in civilian use in the seventies. Please have look at: http://www.frituurzorro.nl Moderator: Please do not remove this mail. This is not a commercial ad. Everything we earn goes directly as investment in new books. |
Hello Theo,
Welcome on this forum! Your books were already brought to the MLU member's attention last year in the thread Book: Frituur Zorro - A 2nd Life For Army Trucks. Don't worry about removal (even though it is a commercial ad :) ), as long as it is about CMP vehicles we are happy to help spread the word on the efforts of writers and publishers. Regards, Hanno MLU Administrator |
Books on CMPs most deffinitly welcome
Hi Theo
To echo Hanno, you are most definitely welcome to share books which contain information on CMPs. Having one of the authors of the work make such a request is also welcome. If you have not already done so take some time to brows through the MLU forum, you will find a wealth of information from all over the world. Along with a large amount of original information and photos. I would like to thank all the people who have taken the time and effort to collect and publish information on Canadian Military Pattern Vehicles, Commonwealth Military Equipment, and on the history of those who have served. Well done and keep up the good work. Cheers Phil |
I got that book last year directly from Theo. Very well made, beautiful pics, a good selection of vehicles. However, the descriptions are sometimes not very accurate in the CMP-Section. Anyway, still a good and unusual addition to your library.
Greetings Chris |
I agree.....I have both volume one and two and they are very nice indeed for anyone interested in military vehicles in post-war use. In fact they bring back the memory of Wheels and Tracks magazine!
Lots of CMP's and Commonwealth trucks in volume one, but also some in volume two. Even though the descriptions are not always accurate as Chris mentioned earlier, the pictures make up for that! Alex |

Fine, your comments are not to be ignored, but...
We as photographers were first of all overwhelmed by the looks of these machines. We are always interested in classical transport. But, less is more, these trucks are so impressive as pure functional objects, we could not ignore them. Lateron we discovered the observer books from Bart H. Vanderveen (also a Dutchman), and everything fell into place. By the way: watch out for volume three, to appear in september, practically devoted only to Allied machines... Here is one already. Of many CMP's (cab 13) the tilted windshield was tilted the other way to give the driver more room. Here is one of them, neatly adapted for its new role |

You mentioned some descriptions of the CMP vehicles are not accurate. Please let us know what you found. Just in case if we consider a reprint |
Frituur Zorro 3 is out!

Dear Zorro friends,
Frituur Zorro 3 is out! 172 pages filled with mainly Allied trucks,(11 CMP"s) and 20 pages with French, German and Czech trucks. Same quality as in volumes 1 and 2, same 172 pages. Frituur Zorro is now complete! |
Can I ask - what does the title mean? :confused
|
Hi Lauren,
Frituur Zorro is the name seen written on the side of an Austin K2 which had a second (third) life as a mobile chip van. Theo Barten "Borrowed" the name for the title of the now, three in number series of great photo volumes showing WW2 vehicles in their second life. I have the first two and have ordered the third. Regards Rick. |

Hi Lynx.
Thanks for the support. We have lots of admirers already! Volume 3 is however the last in the series. Next year we will publish a photobook on Iron Curtain cars in the seventies, called POZOR! Find out what THAT means... |
