I still have to manufacture the rear seat mounts for the rear as well as the fold down table thats mounted on the rear door.

So if any one could help with tech info aka photos drawing etc would be much appreciated.

Also wondering does any one know the vehicles CES/packing list of what goes where in the back... if such a thing exisits?

Cheers!

Hi just a photo of my HUW on the way back from my aborted trip to Corowa 2011 :bang:
The old C8A had one or 2 hick-ups but it was as issue with the suport vehicle that was the ultimate stop to the trip.
Anyway just a "Corowa too far"
Photo is at Goondawindi on the way back. Would sit happily on 85~90 kph and thats clocked on a GPS and returned better than 10 MPG. So the old beast ended up doing only 1200 klm instead of the planned 3000 klm.

Shame you missed out Phil, maybe you should have used the Humber as the support vehicle?
Always next year.
Rich.

Hi there Richard!

Yerr well I would of loved to have taken the Humber down but its still out of action. So the new C8A HUW was the next best option. But in the end it was not the old that let us down it was sort of the new. Well realy can't blame the jeep as it was not its fauls i decided to run into a short post damageing the front end :bang:

Phil,
Thats too bad. I was wondering where you had got too. Wanted to talk Humbers with you.
Nice looking HUW, where did it come from? There was one found on an aboriginal reserve during 'Back to the Track' in 1995. Someone rescued it. Is that it?
regards Rick.

Hi Rich!
My HUW came from a friend up here in Brisbane that restored it back in 94/95. But it had not been finished off so I have been busy last 6 mths tarting it up and installing all the goodies in/on it.

The C8A you refer to got recovered and now resides in Sydney but it is a long way from hitting the road... hopefuly one day. Oh and its a HUP so being the personel model apposed to the HUW.

Phil,
I saw you camped in Narrabri (and followed you up the street :D) on the Tuesday leading up to Corowa however I did not spot your vehicle at Corowa. Your post answers my question as to what happened to you. There is always next year. Good post.
Cheers
John W.

Hi Mike!
Yes that it certainly is! He did a great job too... and i am now picking up the batton where he left off which is great as I am able to put my own input into it. Oh and thanks for your compliment too!

Roger that

I helped him to a small degree with the antenna mount drawing and a B set rubber mount . He used a C8AX as a base and built up the body from plans he obtained from Canada and the UK... not a easy job by any standards ...but the result is top shelf.

Is that the Oodnadatta FGT you're thinking of?

lynx42 01-04-11 13:16

No, it was up north of Mataranka somewhere. It was a HUP. not a C8AX of FGT.
