Off to Canada

I thought it's time to do a trip up to the Northern Hemisphere. You Canadians are lucky you have 4 Aussies coming your way early July.Kathy says for you to lockup all your treasures before we arrive, the people coming with us are into old green stuff as well. If you lock everything out of sight then there will be more time for quilt shopping, do you know of any good shops for quilts. We already have one request for a baby koala are there anymore aussie products we could use for bartering, perhaps we could bring some vegemite.

Max

hrpearce 19-04-11 10:10

Do you need a tunnel guard? :rolleyes

Dean (Ajax) 19-04-11 10:56

Where in Canada are you coming too?

I am in Ajax..just east of Toronto.

Dean

Max Hedges 19-04-11 23:12

After stopping at Vancouver we go to Calgary then Toronto and based at Holstein near Mount Forest.

Harry Moon 19-04-11 23:51

Vancouver

When and how long in Vancouver?

chris vickery 20-04-11 00:20

Guys, I may be in the area in July, will see my schedule as I would like to meet some Aussie mates!
By the way, I understand that you lot don't really like beer....

Bob Carriere 20-04-11 01:01

Max has class.....

He is not fond of beer..... what a shame..... maybe we can get him to try some good Ontario wine....... or some Yellow Label..... oh yeah that comes from Australia.......

I will do a side trip to Mount Albert if Ottawa is too far for him.....

gary_bath_jr 20-04-11 06:19

Vegemite!!!

I got some from a Techie from Aussie, I met up with him in Las Vegas and he gave me some. I dont know how you can eat that stuff...lol.

Gary

Mike Baker 20-04-11 09:09

Leave the Vegemite at home! We can get it up here, but most of us only try it once and then shake our heads at your lack of taste buds.

Mike

Harry Moon 20-04-11 17:53

While on the left coast...

... try to hook up with those of us in Western Command. The big event in early July is our Invasion of the USA, just across the border to Arlington. it's an airshow with a huge turnout of MV's, 140 last year. Saturday night with Canucks hosting Martini night is not to be missed! :drunk:

Hello Travellers; If you are going to be in the Mount Forest area make a run down to St Jacobs - not far - but a touristy village with lots of old order mennonite type items including quilts etc. Thereis also a local quilt auction here to raise money for mennonite charities - should be able to find it on line,

Harry Moon 21-04-11 04:38

Much to short

But you can always come back for more. You can Email us at hmoon@telus.net

I'm off work during that time, let me know what you got planned and we can see if we can work us into things. Lots to see in our fair city if you avoid the local commie politico's.

Max Hedges 21-04-11 23:27

Sorry Bob about my husband you just can't trust him to do the right thing when it comes to using the computer, good thing you noticed as after all it's the Canadians that are behind us in time.

Upside down who's upside down I think we're normal.

Thanks Bob for the quilt shops we have actually been there before and I'm looking forward to another visit this time, so maybe will travel with an empty bag or two.

D'you think Max might be able to squeeze some 10.5 X 16 inch Tyres in one of those bags??? :D

cliff 19-05-11 08:01

Tony how about we do Max a favour when he is away and take all that old rusty truck stuff away and have a good cleanup in his sheds :note: just as a favour to an old bloke mind! :D

Ganmain Tony 19-05-11 08:30

Could take a while

We'd need more time than a couple weeks Cliff.... :bang:

Max Hedges 24-05-11 09:55

Tony I can organise lots of helpers to help you as I know you would be the most rustworthy person to put in charge

Ganmain Tony 24-05-11 10:02

Back up

I reckon I'd need more than Ollie and the pitchfork to stand watch Max.

Max Hedges 24-05-11 10:34

Who said anything about getting Oliie to help stand guard I thought he might help load the vehicles

Kathy

Jon Skagfeld 24-05-11 23:44

sapper740 25-05-11 02:03

Harry, be sure to acquaint our guests to some of Granville Island Brewery's (Canada's original Micro-brewery) products. That'll make them forget all about Foster's Larger (spelled phonetically).

CHEEMO!

derek.

Max Hedges 26-05-11 01:51

Derek

We aussies don't drink Fosters, that's why it's sold overseas. We only drink the good stuff(although we don't even drink beer).

John we'll give you a ring when we arrive and try and go for a drive your way to catchup.

Max Hedges 26-05-11 02:00

packing our bags

Well our trip is about to start, I know we've been a bit slack with our postings but we've been busy trying to get things organised on the farm before we go. Harry if you can send us your phone number we can give you a ring when we arrive over there. It will be sometime after 7.30am on the 29th June. We arrive in Toronto on Sunday the 3 July and head straight for Holstein.

Jon Skagfield I think we still have your number and will giove you a ring, looking forward to catching up after all these years.

Anyone else is welcome to pass on their phone numbers as we can catch up with them as well.

Max
