Data Plate

Hey Kootney

I dont have a Ford Manual however the information should still be same between a Ford and Chev.

The Chev data plate describes your number as F60448-M-GS-6, F60 is Manufacturer Ford, model 60CWT, the 448 is 4 road wheels, 4 driving wheels and the 8 is the wheelbase so 158" wheelbase.

The M is for Military as opossed to C for Civilian.

The GS is the type of box it had, so yours is General Service.

The 6 is the Mark or major design change, so yours is a Mk 6.

Bad News

Hey Rob

It looks like your truck has been cut up, it is no longer 158" wheelbase, either that or thet cab has been transplanted to an C15 chassis. The engine also looks like a chev so it may have had some real surgery done to it...lol.

Hi Rob,

can you measure the wheelbase? if it is 134 inches it is an F60S. Axles are Ford so it may have had a heart transplant plus maybe another cab added hense the wrong vehicle code tab. The photo you show of the complete vehicle looks like it may have a tipper rear body fitted. :)

When I bought the truck the box wasn't mounted so we put 4 three inch body blocks and bolted it down as close to the cab as we could get it. The wheel base is about 102", the spring hangers still have the original rivets in them. The engine and transmission was transplanted into the truck by the previous owner in the late 70's - early 80's.

AAAhhhhhh

That makes sense as to why a Ford would have a Chev engine and trans, also the data plate says it's an L not an S based on the wheelbase.

Gary
