Colin Anderson auction pics
The MV part of the auction was held yesterday (March 1) at Col's farm in Shepparton. It was well attended with over 1000 bidder registrations. Ably assisted by Euan and Paul, I was filming for Year of the Blitz 2 and covered the sale of items such as a Marmon Herrington LP3 gun tractor, Dingo, Morris CS8, LP2A Carrier, Jeep, and the rare Rover armoured car.

Rover Armoured Car
A syndicate of our Museum members bought this vehicle and I'va elready put my hands up for the research and restoration aspect. I've now seen the photos. Oh boy. If I do this one it will be the fourth lifetime of work I've volunteered for.

"A delightful and extrememely rare Morris CS8 sold to Mike Kelly for $3,250" Erm, Keith, this is actually a Morris-Commercial PU 8-cwt 4x2 truck - but it is extremely rare indeed! I am so glad to hear our very own Mike Kelly bought it - well done, Mike! Thanks for sharing these pictures with us. Regards, Hanno |
Knew I'd get it the wrong way around...
Sorry, Mike... you DID tell me but in the confusion of a thousand things happening at once I managed to get it the wrong way around!
Thanks for picking it up, Hanno. Incidentally Euan sanded the front shell of the FGT he bought at the auction and we now have a serial number - 132062. It is likely this was a FAT #8 (Aust). I have a photo of 132172 see http://www.oldcmp.net/refat8.html when new and my own FGT was 132748 |
FGT #8 (AUST)
Now I have the front section of boby all I need is the rest! If anyone can help please let me know.

Auction
hello Hanno and all .
Thanks Hanno for your nice words . Among the paper work with the PU is the original owners certificate from 1945 . It was sold to a civilian owner in July 1945 . The guy from Whittlesea who has the Ford No. 9 gun tractor was at the auction . He mentioned that he thought Keith was going to look at it at some time . Maybe Euan would be interested ? The winch is still in situ but the chassis is U/S . It has been cut down though just behind the cab . Mike |

So what happened to Lot 400 "Morris PU truck chassis only"? - Hanno |
Morris chassis
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Hanno ,
I also bought the spare PU chassis , it is slightly bent near the front crossmember but other wise is OK . Towards the end of the war , many odd makes such as the Morris were disposed of and sold to essential civilian users e.g. farmers and fire brigades . The army had standardised on CMP's and I guess finding parts for the odd bod British trucks was a problem . The Morris was owned from 1949 til 1991 by the same fellow . I am currently drawing up the PU body and will post the drawings on the web site for all to use . In many cases the original bodies were discarded by civilians years ago and us restorers have to build a new body . See the certificate below Mike |
