New track and re-rubbering
 

Hello,

On Wednesday I'll be visiting a gentleman in south western Ontario who has almost completed the restoration of a carrier. He asked if I could find out what the latest is on reproduction track and where the wheels could be re-rubbered. Any help would be appreciated.

Right now I'm working on a deal with a company that makes poly urethane , plastic and rubber products in Saskatoon.I have not received an estimate yet. I would do a search for someone similar in your area.Poly urethane is better than rubber.

I have gone through a re rubbering process for our BV 206 with some success but also some aggravation and disapointment.

Bear in mind that there are 40 road wheels on a BV 206 and it works in an arctic climate.

The temperature issues we have endured are unlikely to be experienced by any Carrier owner.

We supplied the company in Manitoba, that we dealt with, with an NOS road wheel as there is a definite profile that the rubber has to be shaped to. They confirmed that they would be able to do that easily.

After spending just on $4,000 we received the pallet back with all the re worked wheels only to find that they had NOT followed the instructions and we were stuck with their shoddy workmanship. An email exchange ensued and they offered to do the work again at a discount and which point I stopped dealing with them as they had screwed us and not warrantied their work.

We have a single wheel out for covering in polyurethane with a third party and think that as that process is based on a moulding from a mould made from an NOS wheel it will be a better result and we can do it ourself in our shop with ease.
