Just wondering what the cut out in the Canadian Universal MkI* carrier bed rail is for?

Sorry I don't know for sure but it might have something to do with the starter as its position is close to that spot.

Is there not a grease nipple on the bracket that holds the shifter rod right in that area on the floor? That would allow a wrench to get to it?
