clevis pins
Hi, Does anyone know a good supplier of the 7/16" diameter clevis pins of various lengths found on the carrier steering mechanisms, looking for stainless steel one if possible, Ebay has drawn a blank.
thanks kev. :giveup |
Kev,
McMaster Carr in the US of A have a good range but they won't ship to new overseas customers :confused :confused :confused. Do you know someone in the US of A who could on-forward them to you? See: http://www.mcmaster.com/#clevis-pins/=e7y267 Cheers John W. |
Hi Kevin,
You could try this company:http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/en/search.phtml They do list a yoke with pin in 7/16" but no seperate pins in that size. Might be worth giving them a call? Cheers, |
Make them
Clevis pins are easy to make on a lathe ..I would use 4041 stock, and if required, harden them by quenching . Might be worthwhile asking around your neighbourhood for a hobby machinist . The business people generally charge too much for small one off jobs
Bright mild steel is not a good option as it is difficult to harden at home,as it needs to be case hardened. Mike |
forwarding..

If you need, you can have the pins shipped to me and I'll get them to you by using a flat-rate USPS box,(very reasonable price). :) Thanks, David |

Hi, Thanks for everyones help in locating the pins I need, I have someone getting them to me from USA, seems strange that getting imperial bolts, pins and fittings is easier to locate over there, I have bought rivets, countersunk slotted, round head bolts in the past from America because it is just as cheap including the postage to do it.
Many thanks :). |
