Paint comparison M38A1
3 Attachment(s)
Just asking this My M38A1 is a CDN 1953 the paint that appears on it now is a much darker, more black than olive, although the colours are supposed to be a code 24087. In the pics you can see that the fuel tank and gun mount are the new paint and the body is a darker green more like the 24052 colour code like the late WWII and post war marines colour. I am using paint from rapco seems to cover well and is consistant between applications as well.
The colour that is on the jeep now is the last paint that the Can. forces put on it prior to disposal with crown assets that was 1985. Any idea what that colour is...? looks like the colour they painted the Mutt aka151? Love to hear if there is a code for that shade of green semi gloss etc. Thanks and not that i want to raise purist feathers here but I do preffer the darker green to the Olive colour and do have some rust spots to cover. Thanks Casey |
A 1953 Jeep should have been released somewhere in the early to mid 70s.
The Cdn colour is a bit darker than the US color. I have replicated it before by simply adding a small amount of a compatible black to the green colour. Make sure you record just how much black you use so you can replicate it. I prefer the darker OD myself......it is a nice rich shade. |
Thanks Rob... yes I'll try to match it up and go from there the olive colour made look for vermuth! LOL
