Guys, I was making templates to reproduce the jerry can holders tonight for my 44 C15A when i thought i seen some markings, got out some steel wool and lightly cleaned up the area and came up with the following
? M D
? 6 9 2 2
Has anyonw ever found anything on the sides of theres and does anyone know what it would say?...I know it is a shot in the dark but thought i would ask just the same.

I bet they were part numbers stenciled on. Have a look at the parts book and see if they make sense.

I dont know...these are a good 2inch letters and numbers and would have been seen from the rear of the truck, kind of like how everyone marks there jeep as 82nd airborne...

general militart district?

With frigging around in the garage the other night and relooking at the markings on the bracket I now have noticed the first letter is a G....could this marking G M D stand for General Military District? But then we have the number ?6922...
With the other bracket its the same markings but standing from the rear they go from inside to the outside so they couldent be part numbers as they are 2 inch block letters and they would always be in the same location or close...I would think.
