Site has been down for a few days now.

gordon 23-12-11 17:17

It's been down since 12 o'clock local Thursday

Joris has been switching the site to a dedicated server, it's back up now.

Gordon

tankbarrell 23-12-11 17:41

gordon 23-12-11 17:47

tankbarrell 23-12-11 17:48

I can't get it on AOL or IE......

gordon 23-12-11 17:50

Using Safari here

Still works.

No new posts since about lunchtime yesterday, so you are not missing much in the way of content

Just tried on IE and not working :(

tankbarrell 23-12-11 20:01

I suspect it is still not running and Gordon is getting some sort of archive, not up on 'pooters but is that possible?

I know one thing, I am not altering my 'pooter away from IE, as it works for everything else.

Andy Foulds 23-12-11 20:41

Google chrome will let you see a really basic archived version off hmvf if you haven't cleared you're temp file or cookies down. IE will do something similar I think

I'll go back to my lurking on MLU its a cracking forum just to look see what others r doing

Andy,
IE is not showing anything.

Robin Craig 23-12-11 21:51

Typical, im away with the sleigh doing the relative visits across the province and final get to a 21st century household that has a computer not on dial up since monday and cant feed my addiction for the forum!

:D

Robin Craig 24-12-11 06:41

gordon 24-12-11 08:08

Still up and running

There's obviously something not up to speed, as there have only been three new posts since it came back up nearly a day ago.

Try a GOOGLE search and just look for HMVF and then the FORUM link, maybe.

Gordon

( happily accessing MLU and HMVF, and the WW2 Dodge Forum )

Hanno Spoelstra 24-12-11 08:25

Can not access HMVF with Safari on my dumbbone....

But hey! We have MLU!

:D

Rick W 24-12-11 10:00

And there was me thinking Jack had finally found a way to get rid of me! Enjoy MLU for a while...

Indeed Hanno, it's a great place, but with quite a different demographic to HMVF. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone from MLU and HMVF. :thup2:

Alex van de Wetering 24-12-11 11:52

I was able to access HMVF last night, but only after several attempts. Forum was terribly slow and as Gorden mentioned....not too many new posts. Hope it will get sorted soon as I check into HMVF and our own MLU every day during a cuppa.

Not working here, tried on two pc's and mobile phone, what is going on?

Robin Craig 24-12-11 21:04

Richard and others.

I managed to log in on my coal powered steam fired laptop at the shop but here at home with Chrome it fails.

even tried using internet exploder on this pc and still nothing.

Somewhat like Christmas it may be all about Cookies.

Would appreciate someone who does get inside cutting and pasting a link here as that may be temporary shortcut in.

I am on IE, everything else works fine, just cleared cookies and still not opening. Annoying as the site was only slow before, now nothing :confused

It did open up on my mobile, but like viewing through a keyhole so gave up on it, next time i checked it had a timeout error.

Rick W 24-12-11 22:21

Beginning to suspect a catastrophic loss of data, surely even with a backup loaded it would be up and running now?

Hanno Spoelstra 24-12-11 22:25

Now back on my old home PC running IE 8 :thup2: , albeit a bit slow (the new server needs running in ;) )

Go to http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/ or http://www.hmvf.co.uk/forumvb and see if it works for you as well.

super dave 25-12-11 00:31

I just tried gordons link again and opened without any problems.

Robin Craig 25-12-11 00:52

Nope

not internet explorer or google chrome

none of the links work in either

I hope those guys at HMVF admin take the day off and have a go again after Christmas, their spouses will likely thank them.

HMVF classified - where?

Hey Robin - and others
I want to put my F8 for sale on the HMVF site - but it says for adverts should use the Classified section. How do you get onto that - cant see any reference to it on the website? Lots of people seem to put For Sale in the regular forum. What's the proper use?
Cheers
David

David,
Go down the home page, the list of group subjects, under Community Service, you will see Classifieds, click on "new post" and you will see top left a prefix box, select from drop down menu, if for sale, for trade, auction or whatever.

It could take up to a few days before the dynamic name servers have found the new address / location of the HMVF server. It's just like moving house, it takes a while for your address change to take effect.
