Carrier with alternative perspective

Hi all, not sure if many would be interested but I'm doing a quick project for someone in Victoria. It's not going to be anything specific but will end up looking like a tank of some description. I have opted for a blitz rear diff as I think hydraulic tiller will be a far better turning method. The engine is a International 466 with hydraulic pump. This will be coupled to a Hyd motor then a modified blitz tailshaft to the diff. I've already made most of the little intricate parts. I was going to put some pics up at the end but with so many photo's I'll put them up in stages.
Please don't yell at me, I'm only the messenger :p
Interesting project just the same.
Colin.

I Don't Care

Hi Colin - it doesn't matter what it will finish up as, just following your engineering paths is entertaining enough. Oh I wish I had bigger toys like yours.

 Bob

Amazing as always

Incredible to see how you put things together Colin!
Now the kids are in bed, we expect to wake up tomorrow to see the project finished. :note: :note:

tank of some description

Very interested to see what this will end up as. Will it have a turret?
Terrific work though Colin. Is this for a business or reenactors?

i'm surprised the carrier fundamentalists haven't lynched you yet. :D

have you thought about making a vickers light tank, it seems the obvious choice and would be almost impossible to distinguish from the real thing

I was at Colins place just before Christmas and this is what he started with. I think it was the 24th.December.

There are certainly some changes. Well done!

Regards Rick.

In the end it is his and he will do what he wants with it.

The purist are likely cringing in the shadows.

Myself I say grand job.

I like the suggestion of the Vickers tank using the same approach. If you are not a slave to authenticity on the inner guts then it makes it feasable and affordable to do.

I like that approach, especially if no other runners exist.

Morning everyone. This machine is for a buisiness and I must admit I would'nt do this for myself, I prefer the original. A vickers would look good but I have an original Vickers light tank here to do up and that will be a lot more of a challenge. At this stage I have'nt given much thought at the top section but all Idea's are good ones.

Awesome Colin, love projects like this. Shame you can't squeeze another Bogie assembly and wheel in there. Self propelled gun type could look the part or check out the NZ built Schofield tank. That had a turret in proportion with the size of the vehicle and was armed with Australian 2 pounder. anyway enjoy your posts. Cheers David.

colin jones 24-01-12 06:51

Hi Dave, you're right about another set of bogies. He really wants 2 of these and If I do the other one I would build from scratch. That way I could fit 2 pair of bogies like the T16. I must admit that I'm really enjoying having the thinking cap on instead of building an example. I'll keep the pics coming.
Colin.

I've always liked these little tankettes from skoda.
They remind me of a little Stug, and are about the size of a carrier.

Looks good, interested in what it will look like when done.

What business is the client in?

Vickers Replica

I have done the measure up on fitting double bogies to a un-lengthened hull Colin, you can run double bogies on an un-extended carrier hull, you just need to remount the cross tube. I had double bogies on my Vickers replica before the project was abandoned. Can still have track warping for a little additional fabrication. I gave up on the Vickers replica due to the poor state of the hull I was working with....it was not worth repairing.
