Battery stowage bin query

1 Attachment(s)
Clive Hughes made this battery box for me some years ago for my 1944 MK2. It's very nicely made and I thought he'd copied it from his original. But all the others I've seen have ribs in the lid. Can the experts confirm that mine is wrong? If so! Can anyone point me towards another lid or someone who can make one.

Thanks in advance,Ron

Hello Ron,
I have seen origanals like yours with no ribs, some with stright ribs and some with crossed ribs. So i think yours is ok.

fabricator.

Shaun, since we last spoke you mentioned about your fabricator being available for making items up, I need a set of mk1 fuel tank straps, rear rations box and tray, drivers grenade box, I have all these items i can bring them over so he can make copies.

thanks kevin.

Thanks Stephen and Shaun. I'm more than happy to leave mine as it is if it's correct. As far as I know Clive Hughes is a stickler for getting it right and I wondered about different variations. Anyone got an original picture of a smooth lid? Ron

Hi Kevin, bring them over at the week end , i have just put a shed load of Dingo parts in for copying so it will be a couple of weeks before he is back, but if they are here i can ge them to him. I have had him make some extra items i have had done for your and Ben (as long as you dont fight over them lads !)

This is the stowage bin I am referring to in my post "wireless stowage bin" from yesterday. Does anyone have detailed drawings for fabricating one? Was there an identical box used on the MK I carriers?

The Mk1* used the large armoured box on the back of the carrier to house the WS batteries. The Mk2 moved them beside the driver in an un-armoured bin since the crew stowage locker was moved to the outside rear plate.

I just had one made for my Mk 2 , i will price up another if you like - but not sure on the postage.

Thanks Shaun. A quote would be great, for two please. Like you said, postage could be a problem. Is there any chance of the fabricator having drawings he would copy?

Perry
