Scanned carrier parts

I have just finished scanning and cleaning up the drawings of two parts. I have dxf. drawings of both the steering cam and the e-brake paw for those of you that want them. The dxf. file type can be taken to a laser guy to have new parts made up. Both parts are for Canadian/English carriers. I have no idea how the corresponding parts on the carriers from down under differ. The e-brake part was scanned from a perfect example and I am confident of its size shape and tolerance. The cam plate I developed was scanned from a very, very poor example. It was very damaged and corroded. That scan gave me a part with left and right sides that were not a mirror of one another. After a comparison of left and right contours, and creating curves that were a best fit of the two I created a true mirrored drawing. I had a part made up from this drawing. It fits and bolts up well but I do not have running carrier to relate to you the performance of the part. Send me a PM with your email address if you are interested in either or both.

Australian Carriers
 

The LP2 and 2A used a Ford car type emergency brake like this one (although the mounting bracket is a bit different) this one can be used with a bit of adapting.

It was also used on Australian Ford No 8 and 9 gun tractors for the winch handbrake. I have some of these NOS if anyone wants one send me a PM.

Steve . the steering cam in your post liiks similar to the ausie version. the handbeake ratchet may be a standard ford part . the parts book may list a ford number. if the extreme boltholes line up with the ones on the lid of the gearbx you may be in buisness.

E-brake handle

The handle it self appears to be a model A part. I purchased mine from Macs. I sand blasted off the chrome that it came with. I still have done noting about the possibly required bend that they all have.

Drawing clarification

Thank you I do remember that thread. I remember finding it interesting.


I also wanted to write a quick description on the drawings that I am offering above. The drawings were made using a Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) program called SolidWorks and will require some sort of CAD system to open. I can save in a few other formats if your CAD programs still can not open. I can send the parts as pdf or jpg but I really do not see the purpose as no position location data can be learned from that file type. My thought was that the dxf file type could be taken to either a laser guy to be used to (CAM) Computer Aided Machine the parts from. Here in the US where I am, the dxf file type is kind of the norm for this type of work. I suspect you could also take the dxf to the local print shop and have them print it out in a 100% or 1 to 1 scale for those interested in a hard template. The drawings were saved into the dxf as 100% or 1 to 1 scale to begin with. I am happy to help make file type changes if required. Just let me know.
