ANZAC Day 2004

I've put up a couple of pages of pictures of yesterday's event, where in the Melbourne parade the Victorian Military Vehicle Corps members fielded a large number of vehicles to carry vets from the city to the Shrine of Remembrance.
Euan took his CGT 9 and C15A. I rode in the CGT and took advantage of this great viewpoint for your viewing pleasure.

The pride in the face of this scout is evident as he leads the group from the 2/8th Australian Army Regiment.

The event was covered by the ABC, the national broadcaster and I was surprised to receive a text message from my daughter in Bendigo saying there was a big close-up of me hiding in the CGT!
Here's page 1 and page 2. This page covers the latter part of the parade where all the vehicles bunch together do do the drive along St. Kilda Road.
Euan and Doug (who was driving the C15A) noticed the mirrors were at exactly the same height and managed to make them lightly touch to the applause of the crowd.

ANZAC day
 

After owning the C15A for 20 years & the CGT for 6 months this was the first time I presented 2 CMP's for a club outing. What a job as I had robbed parts off the C15A to get the CGT registed & with a exhaust manifold that keeps leaking on the C15A I had to change the manifold & cut out a new gasket the night before the street parade. I also was having trouble with the starter motor so I fitted a starter motor off a Chev blue flame 235 that was in stock & it worked a treat. The day ran very smooth with a big thanks to Keith & Doug for helping drive & load /unload vets.

ANZAC DAY 1982
 

A pic from the 1982 ANZAC day , my Dodge command car at the Flinders street corner , it was a very wet day , we all got drenched .

The VMVC began its ANZAC day liason in 1979 ? I think .For the first marches we did , I was assigned the WW1 AFC veterans ( Aust. flying corps ) . The old fella I had the second year was a pilot who flew RE8 aircraft over France and Belguim , he said the average life span was about 3 months for the aircrews . He told me , he was the only survivor from his initial posting to his squadron , all the rest were shot down .

I have two gasket sets that I think will fit your engine in the CGT

They are marked chev 6 1963 - 67 ? They are only the cheap ones , not copper , but fibre type . OK for a standby though .

I took them to the VMVC swap day , but you didnt show up . They are still in the car .

Probably wont make it to the meeting , I was at the last one . Its a long drive from here . I have been showing videos at the meetings in order to make it more interesting .

I sold the command car about 18 months ago to Jim Harris .
