Does anyone know if the brass part is the same as an LP Carrier?

I know the button itself is different, the English one having a radiused edge, the LP being virtually flat across the edge.

Lynn Eades 06-06-12 10:04

Yes, I do, and no they aren't.

Lynn Eades 06-06-12 11:13

The knobs are square edged
The bronze part is longer between the screw hole centers.
The screw countersink is a different angle.
The spindle is a bigger dia.at the index (business)end

...and the arm is different, and so is the window frame.

Things you can interchange;
Bogie axles and bearings
return roller axles and bearings.
steering box worm and sector shaft
Fibre cups.
Suspension rods (with nuts)

Not much else.

Roy , you have done a nice job. Well done!

The Bedford Boys 06-06-12 11:30

Ahhh, Red, if anyone was to know it would be you. :thup2:

And yes the suspension rods are interchangeable, but the threads on the ends are different. So to be 100% authentic, you shouldn't be using English rods in an LP Carrier and vice versa. *shakes finger sarcasticly whilst staring at pile of NOS English suspension rods cleaned up to go into LP suspension*

As they were available in your area, why wouldn't you?
....and when your carrier is up and going, will you care?

I see your covers went quickly.

Ralph Volkert 06-06-12 15:38

They look great! I am assuming British are same as Canadian!?
Either way I am interested! How much are they?

Doug Lavoie 06-06-12 17:32

I am interested as well. Very nice work done on each piece. What would the cost be?
Doug

Sorry I will have to pass for now. If you have dimensions That would be great I have a mini lathe and mini milling machine and this is the size of stuff I can do myself if I have a pattern or drawing.

kevin powles 12-06-12 22:29

Hi, Thats a good price for 60 pieces considering they are complete and the amount of work put into each one, how much interest have you had?.

regards kevin.

roy206 16-06-12 09:59

hi kevin

i think the price is to expensive :)
before i put the price in here there was a lot of interest, now it is over.
and indeed with all the work on them is 60 euro a fair price.

The knobs must be interchangeable, as Dad's old Mortar carrier has an LP knob or two on the shutters.

The New Zealand knob looks bigger than the English knob. Were our knobs bigger than theirs Lynn?
