1940 01Y Ford ute on TV

Just been watching classic restos trucks on channel 31 ..Melbourne ..the show is repeated on this coming weekend . The show is aired in the USA and other places so watch out for it

They feature a military 1940 01Y ford ute , roadster cab ... sad thing is, it's been restored as a civilian vehicle :confused Mike

Hi Mike,

That aired here on regional TV NSW last week and I thought of you.

Have you seen the one in Deals on wheels ? Only $40k unrestored

Cheers

Nice looking bit of gear, bit of an alladdins cave by the look of it, I try and watch it, but sometimes it clashes with prisoner(wife's fav). The old/vintage truck scene seems to be gathering a bit of momentum, which can only be good

Hi Phil

$ 40K you say :giveup :giveup

Remember that example near Junee ? I think it is still there .

Yes that show has really gained some popularity, the host , Fletch is somewhat annoying the way he gets excited over silly mundane things .

He was doing the route 66 special in the USA , and he was kneeling down on a old section of the road and getting excited over a bit of old bituman ..

The car version of the show has never featured anything before the 1950's . He is obsessed with 1960's cars and that's all we see

I have watched the show .

The ute owner did say that it is a ex-military vehicle, but he preferred to paint it in civvy colours .

He also said that these soft top vehicles were confiscated from civilian owners as a normal truck and the cab top was cut off the cab to make it into a canvas top

The ute body on it looked like a mock up , understandable .

Dodgy colours

Yes Mike a potentially nice old rare ex Military Ford that one. Don't like the paint job but it's the owner's perogative guess.

I know of a restorable 1937 Ford Utility near my place. It appears to have been used by the military. Not complete but not too rusty yet local collectors have consistently ignored it. I could have it for free but it's not my thing...

Cheers

Phill
