Sizes

Hi Eric,
Does your photo show 2 "large" brackets or different sized brackets. I have ever only seen one size of this style bracket and they were commonly used in the CMP cabs as the upper rifle bracket, with the butt of the rifle resting in a hollowed-out wood base.

CMP Rifle brackets

Hello Brian

I actually have one of both sizes. I think i bought my two smaller ones from you a few years ago NOS.

My larger one is used and is rough.

One style was used on the CMP's when mounted vertically while both were used when the rifle was mounted horizontally in other vehicles.

Thanks
Eric

rifle clips

Hello Kevin

I have the same from Brian Asbury. Mine were the small ones.

These brackets are known as rifle clip #1 B-11492 and rifle clip #2 B-11491

The larger one is exactly the same look as the smaller one, but the metal is 2 inched wide while the smaller one is 1.75 inches wide.

These are also rubber coated.

There is another style rifle clip that is just a u shape (no L bracket) and is mounted directly onto a flat surface, i had one of these and it was leather covered.

I did make some repos as well but am looking for an original as it will fit better on the bracket i have.

Thanks

Eric

I was looking through one of my boxes of Carrier parts for

Carrier rifle mounting brackets and found one of the small rifle

mounting brackets in your pictures. 1 3/4" wide. In surprisingly

good shape. I notice the black material was applied the same way the

'67 smg brackets were done. A dipped application.

This material is Plasti-Dip available from Home Hardware. $23 a pint.

Not cheap...but right. Made by Paisley Products in Scarborough.

Thanks Peter...

for the heads up on that Plasti Dip. I have searched high and low...going to find a pint tommorrow.

Another manufacturer's web site http://www.plastidip.com/
They make "plasti dip", "rubber dip" and both brush-on and spray-on electrical insulator (brush-on electrical tape).
I think plasti-dip (either with or without the hyphen) has become used as a generic name as well as a brand name.

When I did my 12 cab I used the Plasti-Dip to re-do my rifle brackets.
It may take a few applications to get the thickness you require.
