Rolling Steel 2012, KTR Twente-Achterhoekweekend September 2012

"Rolling Steel 2012"....."KTR Twente-Achterhoek weekend"....."Tanks in Twente", all names for the same event, held two weeks ago in Sint Isodorushoeve in the Eastern part of The Netherlands.
Just two weeks after Dutch club Keep Them Rolling (KTR) celebrated it's 40th Anniversary, the club celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the "Achterhoek-weekend".
What can I say....it was awesome. The special theme this year was "Red Ball Express", so Jimmy's were everywhere, but the organization also managed to attract some very rare and heavy trucks and also a lot of trailers and engineers equipment. Apart from the American vehicles, there was an excellent selection of Commonwealth vehicles. I wanted to post some pics of the event, but to be honest, the hard part was making a selection!

Anyway, enjoy the pictures, and also have a look here for to movies I made.

I would like to one day see a show in europe, so many terrific vehicles. One day maybe.

Looks like a good time was had by all!
Liked the vantage point for the first YouTube clip, full frontal a and side shot in one go, plus the sound of getting up to speed after the turn.
Thanks for the post.
Rich.

What can you tell us about the site for KTR

Hi Alex

Thanks for the fascinating videos of the KTR Achterhoek Weekend, what can you tell us about the track area they are showing in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-2zh7PSmp4 ? Is it some kind of motocross track?

Lot more videos have been posted since you started this thread.

Well worth a revisit for anybody who really want to get side tracked in from what ever they doing to watching some really good videos of people having fun with their MVs. http://www.youtube.com/results?searc....1.Zp5v89rj6RI

If you want some period music in the back ground open http://www.1940sukradio.co.uk/ in another window.

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,

It's a Motorcross track indeed. Everyone got the oppertunity to drive their vehicles on the track and it was great fun seeing the vehicles trying to cross the different "jumps". The Otter had little difficulty on most of the track.....a CCKW workshop had a lot more difficulty and than I saw Stefan Leegwater in the International on top of a hill we all thought was only suitable for Jeeps

During a few of the rounds we came across a Caterpillar dozer on the track.....It reminded me of the competition between the tortoise and the hare!

And yes....definately a lot of nice MV events on youtube....usually it's well worth checking youtube one or two weeks after an event!

Luke, Ryan, Richard,

Thanks for the comments. @ Richard....I was mostly lucky with the good location, weather and lack of wind! Last weekend I was in Arnhem and I made some more movies...all you hear is wind  The only thing I can do is ad some period music to mask the wind.....something I always hate about youtube movies!

Thanks for taking time from your personal life to spend a warm autumn afternoon in the sun photographing old trucks, tracks and tents. Your sacrifice is noted (wink). Did you find refreshment at the mess truck?

Realistically, that is the wrong era of Canadian flag. It ought to be a Red Ensign, which resembles the modern-day Ontario and Manitoba provincial flags. Although the Maple Leaf replaced the Red Ensign a generation and a half ago, there are still many people who are angry at the thought.

The flag might be wrong, but did you notice that the Allied Star is crooked? This was a common practice with the Canadians who did not was the American style star on their vehicles.

BTW: Great photos and report.

Regards Rick.
