Can any of you experts out there help me? Name country or army that may have used these artifacts that my uncle gave me right after the second world war. I would appreciate any help. Dates on bayonets are 1876 and 1877.

Hi Norm,

I can't identify the badge, but the bayonets are French, from the St Ettienne armoury. They were used on the m1874 Gras rifle, a metallic cartdridge conversion from the needle-fire Chassepot of 1866.

M74 Gras ..First and widely copied of the "T" back bayonets...

Hi Alex:
I want to thank you for giving me a good sight to identify my bayonets. It gave me the history that I was looking for. At the age of 83 I am always amazed at the fast and immediate communication that the internet provides. It becomes like a world family.
