Too Cold To Work!

We hit-28oC at 0800 hrs this morning. Windchill was measured at -41oC. For those who have not experienced windchill, see: http://www.ontarioweather.com/winter.../windchill.asp

It is so cold right now that if you threw a cup of hot water into the air, it will instantly convert to snow well before it hits the ground.

Working in this type of weather is OK providing you have the proper kit and are reasonably healthy. This weather reminds me of my army days, but with one difference - I don't have to go outside!

Brrrrr!

Was out with the wrecker all day boosting vehicles, it amazes me how many people leave the master power on and wonder why the batteries are always dead

I see by the Govt of Canada weather site you guys reached -22°C today, so I don't know what you fellows are whining about.

We are heading back into the -31 zone tonight.....we actually hit -23 today which was kind of nice. Monday was Brutal here with biting winds on top of very low temps.

Suddenly, the all inclusives to Mexico are looking very desirable right now. Hoping to head South any day now.

North Bay, ON -30c here tonight, -39c with the windchill

Check out:

http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/..._metric_e.html - click on More Info tab and then the Past 24 hours tab - it shows what really happened temp wise here in Ottawa.

We refined city dwellers are not overly used to such ignorant coldness, whereas you are used to and deserve the cold temps you get as payment for the privilege of living in Shilo.

Whining? No. Just sharing the pain...

Hmmm

Funny...you blokes are lighting 'em, and Max is putting 'em out.

Personally I blame your freezing temperatures on global warming.

Looking over the Ottawa forecast for the weekend, it looks like Shilo will actually be considerably warmer than those in the capital region. Yay!!

As to burning wood, it has been too cold to start the tractor to clear the snow so I can get the trailer next to the woodpile. As a result, we are down to our last couple of sticks of wood in the front porch. Guess the furnace will have to do what it was designed to do until the weekend. Single digit negative temperatures.....sure looking forward to them.

Nip in the air around here too

Hi All

Yes, we are back to winter temperatures coldest in two years with -20C.

Yesterday in only got up -15C sounds so much colder in Celsius.

Just went out to the shop to turn the heat up, so I can go out and work a little later.

Cheers Phil

Generally speaking, Canadians are in favour of global warmng. :p

One car is dead in the driveway, and the other has run two and three times a day just to keep the fluids uncongealed. Yup. It's cold outside.

When I had my first diesel VW, there was a table in the manual to dilute the fuel with up to 40% kerosene so it flowed.

A week of foggy mornings followed by bright blue sky in the afternoon broken up today with a little rain keeping the lawn green! :sheep:

rob love 25-01-13 06:53

Harry:
You have nothing over us: I too saw my lawn the other week when I tore a chunk of it out plowing the lane to my shop. OK, so I haven't seen my whole lawn in about 3 months, but I'm sure it is still under there somewhere. At least I don't have to worry about dandelions for another 4 months.

Kind of dreaming with that last one. Then again, the rule of infinity says that given enough time, a Monkey at random will type out war and peace. So what about a dozen Monkeys in hockey suits?
